Starting to gather parts for a long overdue rebuild of steering and front axle 4x4 parts on 2008 PS with 287,000 miles. Just wondering if I should also be replacing the actual hubs (expensive). I don't know whether to expect them to need to be replaced. I am already planning on replacing all steering parts, universals, bearings, brakes, maybe rotors. Am I missing anything? I want to have everything I need when I tear it apart. It has original manual lock hubs, and nothing has ever been replaced.
The former, definitely do not replace unless evidence of broken hard parts. The latter, it's up to you but I'll take used OEM (if tight) over new aftermarket.
If you do replace the wb hubs Motorcraft has several "grades" of parts and I'd only use the best. One of the grades was "Service" grade IIRC and I can never remember them all or how they rank
