I Picked up set 20" 2022 super duty platinum take off's wheels/tires. Guy says he removed Tpms sensors and used on his new tires.
So what sensors do I need. After looking online sounds like some after market sensors do not work.. Even some that sell on amazon that are package Motorcraft, do not work or needed to take to Ford dealer, after reading reviews. Thanks
I'm putting them 2022 super duty
I ordered mine from tirerack so i wouldn't be getting a potential knockoff from amazon, they were $27 each last May. F2GZ-1A189-A was the part number when you dig around tireracks site, they are 315 Mhz. I bought bare take off Lariat rims and put those sensors in along with a set of Michelin take off tires and they calibrated to the truck automatically after roughly 4-5 miles of driving.
I would call your local tire shop, VIP, Tirewarehouse, etc. They will sell you sensors as cheep as anyone and then program them to your truck. Takes all the guess work of if they will work or not out of the way.
I just bought a set for my wife's Pilot from https://tpms247.com/ Haven't put them in but they got back to me within minutes when I asked some questions. Sensors were ~$28 a piece. US based company, this is all they do and seem great.
So I ended up going the easy route. Took the tire/wheels to local big box tire shop and had them install aftermarket TPMS. Below is what they used. $260 installed and activated.
Also Tech there said he did the same tire swap (18" to 20" OEM swap) but he's tires still had the OEM TPMS. He just drove 5-ish miles and new psi just showed up on his screen.
Thanks for all the answers and ideas
Jim, it isn't clear from your post what the tire shop did. Those sensors are programmable. The tire shop should have been able to capture the ID codes of your old sensors from what the truck has stored in the BCM. They then take those ID codes and program them into the new sensors. The truck would have no idea that the new sensors are any different than the old sensors, so no relearn would have been necessary.
$260 is a bit expensive, but Schrader is a premium brand name which is almost guaranteed to work and for a good long time. You were also paying for balancing, which was necessary.

Update on these, put them in this morning and are working as advertised. 2011 Honda Pilot EX-L. All I had to do was install them, drive around for ~15 miles and the vehicle sync'd to them without me doing anything.
