So when I bought my 68 F100 I was told only the automatic transmission was bad.
After collecting parts for the C6 which proved more challenging than expected, I started working on it.
I don't know how long it sat in his backyard, but it has sat at my place for a couple years now.
tonight I popped the driver's side valve cover and found this.
You will also notice part of a cotter key and a damper spring sitting next to the rocker arm assembly.
I fished them out of one of the oil drain back holes.
It makes me question whether the engine is any good.
Engine is a 390 FE.
Engine looks great. That happens from condensation. Clean it up, oil all your cylinders, rotate the engine by hand for a full 360* and you should be good to go. BTW I bet your points look fuzzy also.

(Facepalm) Of course. That makes perfect sense. Thank you.
Looks like a breather cap and/or a PCV valve and grommet were left off prior to storage. Rust is from left to right. I believe rocker arm and shaft assemblies are available aftermarket.
So after soaking everything in Evaporust I found I also had to replace a cracked rocker shaft support and spacer springs.
Now for the passenger side.
Lest you think I'm complaining, I'm enjoying how super simple this is to fix.
