One of the drivers was just leaving the shop and thats where I heard a loud "BANG".My first impression was that a cac boot came loose, WRONG! the truck started knocking like crazy and smoking. After further inspection and AE cyl contribution test pointed to cyl #2. Took off driver side valve cover and found this
The ball bearing fell somewhere under the truck, thank god it was not inside the engine.
Can someone give me the part #s on a push rod, rocker arm, and the piece that connect the two valves(dont know the name). Thanks.
It's just called a bridge. I'll look to see if I can find the rocker number. I'll bet if you'll PM SuperDutyService he could probably hook you up with a good used one cheap. The other thing you're going to need is another headbolt and it's torque to yield. He may have one (or hundreds) of those too.
Thanks for the quick reply, cant i just get away changing the rocker arm? If i remove the injector then It can easily slide of, if i put cyl 2 at tdc i think i can just slid a new one in, I might be wrong what do yall think.
Did you roll it on a flat surface?
The bridge should be ok, never have seen a bad one.
You will need a head bolt to replace the rocker arms unless you have the tool.
Yes on the first ? Rolled it on a steel plate i had laying around.
And on the second ? I just pulled the injector out and yanked the rocker arm off. Hopefully I can avoid taking that head bolt out.
It would be far more preferable for you to obtain the proper valve bridge compressor tool to change out that rocker arm. That way, you won't be disturbing the head bolt.
