This isn't passing the sniff test so I figured I'd double check. Having a local dealer put in a 2023 F-350 order using X-Plan.
They're telling me that they can't send the invoice with X-Plan pricing or AZDX-Plan-Pricing-Agreement until Ford creates the VIN for the order which will take several weeks (if it even happens pre-January build start at all), and I need to sign the paperwork for deposit today with full MSRP listed. Also can't get any confirmation they've attached my ECO code which I'll be asking about separately. But of course they maintain "you have written email confirmation that you will be buying under X-plan."
I was under the impression X-plan was something that needed to be setup up front and would be reflected in all the paperwork from day 1. Any of this sound right?
My 2022 had it on the order, and my 2023 has it shown... Sounds like a run around to me.
The salesperson told me they were taking it on 2023s so I went down and put my deposit in. The sales manager was a little ticked as apparently he did not plan on taking plan pricing on the new orders. I'm not sure what will happen when the truck actually arrives late next year. I expect them to try to screw me over somehow though.
The order is a binding agreement between you and the dealer, what Ford gets from the dealer does not reflect any pricing. You will not find a window sticker with X-plan pricing on it.
What MIGHT be the issue here is that the build and price is not tied to X-plan pricing yet, which means the dealer may not be able to give you the actual X-plan price, however, that does not mean they cannot place the order. When invoiced though, plan pricing is at the bottom of the invoice. At that point they can sell at X-plan, but I think right now, the dealer can't give you actual pricing.
When I ordered my 2016 F150, I used X-Plan but none of the invoices or paperwork reflected that until the day I picked up the truck and singed on the line. I wouldn't worry about it, pay the deposit and wait for your truck and used the X-Plan PIN when you pick it up.

This was the same case for me, however when I signed the original order sheet with my drivers license, I had wrote "With X-Plan" on it. They told me not a bad idea. I also saved all my emails with the salespeople that said X-plan would be honored. I also printed the online configuration summary that shows the X-plan pricing. In the end, they honored everything, including PCO and price protection. I was really happy.
Looking at the paperwork more closely, at the bottom of the build sheet it also says it's "not yet submitted to order book" yet I got the order confirmation email. Does that mean anything?
When I ordered mine, all I had was the email from the salesman saying they would accept x-plan pricing when my ordered truck came in, and that is how it went, x-plan reflected during final purchase when the truck came in.
When I ordered, they did the retail order verification and I put down a deposit, nothing about x-plan was on the order agreement.
OP, I guess it comes down to whether you trust the dealer to keep their word on taking x-plan.
This is the reason I told my salesman I wanted all our talking to be through email, because then I had written confirmation of all conversations and negotiations.
Dealer can input the order and show the plan pricing on the order sheet. - so they are full of it or inexperienced which is less likely. Tell them you want X plan in writing at least that X plan will be honored or order through another dealership. I have it on both my 2023 orders.
Yeah not getting good feeling from these guys. Thanks for the input all.
I think I just got a dealer I trust a lot more to agree to X-plan so I'll try pivoting over there. They said they can get me the sheet with plan pricing on it up front.

When I ordered my 2023 F-450, the papers they had me sign with the options and pricing on it, showed the price for all three plans at the bottom, A, D, and X.
