2018 Pricing, etc...
On the dealer invoice are some numbers that I'm not aware of. Here is what I'm seeing on the dealer invoice for a 2018 F250 Lariat:
MSRP = $56,285
Invoice = $53,224.06
X-Plan = $53,286.16
The numbers above make sense and the X-Plan pricing adds up to the Invoice - .4% plus the $275 Administrative Fee.
But I have some questions about the other categories that I see on the invoice sheet:
HB = $1644 (I believe that's the hold back, meaning what they dealer is ultimately making on the purchase)?
FPA = $548 (Not sure what this is)?
AA = $822 (Not sure what this is)?
The X Plan works out pretty close to invoice. I guess if a dealer wanted to move stock, they would bite into their $1644 hold back and do so?
But what about ordering a truck, could one negotiate beyond the X-Plan pricing?
I believe the current rebate is $500? That comes off the X-Plan price or final price of the vehicle, correct? It's been a long time since I purchased a new vehicle, last Ford truck I bought had a $1500 rebate.
In terms of ordering a truck, when is the cutoff to order a 2018?
When does ordering start for 2019's?
Yeah, hold back is 3% so $1644 sounds right.
Now taking orders on 2019s. Prices went up about $200 over 2018 models. Most of that was in destination charges.
Rebates are are handled just like additional down payments for tax purposes so it doesn’t come off the sale price. It’s applied just like additional down payment after tax is computed.
Ordering for 2018s is done, and they have already begun building the 2019s.
Curious about how much under invoice dealers would typically negotiate.
Is the holdback the only profit in a vehicle?
Asking because if we look at my original example the hold back was $1644. The invoice vs. MSRP is only off by about sixty dollars, so I guess by negotiating under invoice, they'd be cutting into their holdback? I guess dealers would rather make a sale and $1000 profit for example, as opposed to no sale?
