Well, I bit the bullet and bought a 19" ViewSonic flat screen tonight. I'm blown away by it.

What model Ken? And if you dont mind tell me if/when/how many dead pixels you get. They wont take it back till you get 5+ unless they are dead center within 2". But I am curious as to what the acceptable rate on the 19" ones are.

Thanks!

BlackHawk I used TTX monitors back in the day but its there laptops I'm interested in. They will sell them with NO OS which is important to me, I only need windows for games / the odd app. I'd prefer to run linux as a desktop but last time I tried there wasn't enough programs for what I needed.

Been following it for about a month now (desktop systems that is, I run linux only as servers) and I realized I am "behind in the times" When I ran linux as a desktop last it was mandrake 7.0 with KDE 1.something as my windows manager. Now KDE 3.1 is out and Openoffice 1.1 looks amazing and now I was just reading about a DTP called stylus. Very impressive.

But I guess I may as well go into detail on my box I see everyone else going into "Some" detail...and I did just finish this upgrade last week:

Mid tower aluminum case w/ 1 extra case fan
350W Enermax P/S
Asus P4C-800E Motherboard
Intel P4-3.0G/800FSB HT enabled cpu
2x512M OCZ DUAL DDR400
ATI AIW RADEON 9800 PRO (128M)
2x40G WD 8M cache 7200RPM @ raid 0 (striped) {PATA}
LG 10X dvd
Plextor 24x24x32x cdrw
SB audigy 2 (for now looking to get z5 platinum before new year)
Viewsonic P220f monitor

And that about sums up this box. I've gone into detail about my server wifi/wired network in other posts.

But for now this box is running winxp. Though that may change really soon, I may go dual boot. We'll see.

VX900.

600:1 contrast.
Built in speakers.
Analog and digital input.

Extremely sharp image. Almost went with a (gag) Sony for $100 more but it didn't have digital input but had a better contrast ratio of 700:1.

I have a Gateway Solo 366 megahertz 128 ram laptop. I know it is old, but I can surf the internet and everything else that I need to do. It has been a great computer.
