some time ago I’ve lost my front driver side turn signal.
Rear signal works, but no front and no green indicator on dashboard.
Passenger side operates correctly both front and rear as well as dash indicator.
The hazards operate correctly.
There is no 12 volt to that front socket when left signal engaged.
12 volt to that socket when hazards on.
Tried grounding socket but no luck.
Inspected wires from socket back towards firewall.
Inspected turn switch in steering column again grounding that out.
If any ideas what else to check would be great, changed many bulbs and that’s not the cause.
would this sound like a signal switch replacement ?
Found out it’s a pain not having that signal working.
Change out your combo (turn signal) switch in your steering column.
Terrible advice unless you are buying the switch for the PO.
1) Because you should not replace parts without testing them first. The wiring diagram was provided for that purpose.
2). It is not a “combo” switch on an ‘88. Does power run through it? Yes but the headlight switch is in the dashboard and the high beam switch is on the floor.
I do appreciate wiring diagram, at least I know what wires are for front left. This gives me something to check.
I do have a spare switch already pulled from parts truck that may go in .
Since this last post before Xmas I’ve lost the hazard lights as well.
yesteday I finally got around to replacing signal switch.
It was as I found out a bit of a pain but not that bad.
Dropping the steering column allowed better access to plug and feeding wires back through.
As I found out my replacement switch wasn’t functioning 100% so I had to rob the head of the switch off my old one.
Got it in and discovered I had signals but no tilt and still no hazards.
Realized that the switch perhaps wasn’t seated completely in column. After a bunch of messing around tilt is back.
still no hazards.
Now the signals are working … then not working… but mostly working.
I found a new switch on internet and ordered so should fix permanently.
Tried a different flasher unit for hazards but no luck. Odd place for flasher behind glovebox.
