65 Heater core

I know I could find this by searching the forum, but ain't got time for that recently. My heater core started leaking over the summer so I bypassed it but it's starting to cool off in Southern California and a defrost would be nice. Are the 65 heater cores readily available
? In brass and copper? Am I better off having mine repaired to last another 58 years?
Thanks for your time.

Look at post #4 in this thread, from NumberDummy

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...core-swap.html

If your truck can use the C5TZ-18476-A he listed, RearCounter shows that they are available NOS.

NOTE: Bad information, disregard. The highlighted one is for F350 and larger. The correct number is the first number, E3TZ-18476-E, and is also available according to RearCounter, BUT does not indicate if it is NOS or reproduction. You have got to ask that key question when inquiring. I got an NOS one off eBay a couple years back for about 60.00 plus shipping. Good luck.

In my opinion, those old cores (and radiators) aren't worth repairing. By the time you spend the money on a repair to very old metal, they're just as likely to leak in another spot. Just purchase new.....shouldn't be brain surgery.
Eric.

I know all the slicks did not share the same heater box.
FYI, for my '66 with the fresh air deluxe box, I looked far and wide for a new core. Everyone seemed to be selling the same version that was too small to mount and seal-up in the box correctly. Also the pipes were too short to pass through the firewall far enough to hook up the hoses.
I finally found the item that fit right at Classic Industries

I have a new aluminum one in the original box.. I believe it fits 65-66 but not sure.
It came with the 64 I bought a year ago. I will send it to you if you just pay the shipping. I will never need it.....

Thank you but I got one before I saw this, like I said I've been very busy and haven't been on the forum much.

I checked all the local places, O'Reilly's, carquest, Napa, and all I could find was aluminum. Checked with Tom's bronco parts and found a copper and brass core for 66-76 bronco, says it fit my truck so I ordered it for the same price as an aluminum one locally, $45, and a seal kit for another 14. Killed me with the $17 shipping, but it got and I now have heat.

I am glad you got a copper brass one, much better. If anyone wants the aluminum one I have, its yours for the cost of shipping! Happy Thanksgiving Weekend all.
