Seems I keep getting mail from Ford over the tailgate recall. I have not called to see if my local dealer has parts . Any one have this done and just what the heck did they do???????TR

 

The recall I found was for 2018 F150s where the tailgate might open uncommanded. It affects about 57,000 trucks. Details here.

I have a 2018 and never received anything. I have a solid tonneau with a lip so I'm not too worried.

 

This is the information I found, see attached PDF. I planned to do the whole thing myself, bought all the parts needed and then found the PDF info, called a dealer, found my vehicle had a warranty so I just had them do it. This was like a couple months ago. They paid me for the parts I purchased as well. I like this guy on Youtube, he shows how to do the job really well.

 

Thank you for all of the information and the UTube video, I've been tied up with a medical emergency the last couple of days. I spoke to the general manager two days ago to clear up mis information he was receiving and explained to him that I didn't have any issues with the camera before they did the recall for the latches. Everything I read points to a loose connection or damaged wire in the harness. The last thing he said was that he was going to look at it again, haven't heard anything back since then. Right now, I'm more concerned about my wife than the truck. I'll let you know what the outcome turns out to be. Thanks Again!
