I bought some American Racing wheels for my build. I think I stripped the spindle. All i did was take all the wheels off. It came off easy, but wont go back on.
I switched the right / left and for sure its the threads. Is my best bet try and take a die to it? or what do you think? I'm sucking on cash. I tried cleaning the threads up with a wire brush. No dice.
I want to get this done asap. This ride is kicking my **** but its a journey like my Chevelle.
Ok apparently no one sells one that big locally. Does anyone know the thread size I think its 18x1.5? The closest thing I found is a set off Harbor Freight but its the whole set for 90 bucks.
Well, that's such a big die it might not be in the set you look to buy either
Should be a 3/4 -16 thread
Thats the problem. Everything is small diameter and the only way I can get it to the shop is towed. It doesn't look irreparable. I think it came loose a bit and then I took it off making a bigger issue.
Learn something new all the time with these old rides.
Lets see how good you are. Does this maybe fit the bill?
I redid the spindle with the die and channel locks. You definitely need lube. Twist back and forth. Don’t try to go all one way. If it sticks, twist back and keep going. Keep using lube. I used PB Blaster.
hopefully a new guy like me can use this. I never did a spindle.
for the die I used. I got off amazon. The previous poster suggested the right one.
