I've got an 04 6.0 pretty much stock except for a couple upgrades, nothing performance wise except for the Airaid Cold Air intake. I'm looking to finally upgrade my exhaust from the turbo back. I have been trying to find videos, but they all delete the cat and as I am in Ca, and I can't delete the cat (believe me I would if I could, but the fine is huge for that down here). So, I've been looking at the MBRP SLM series Turbo Back System with a muffler delete retaining the factory Catalytic Convertor. I'm having trouble deciding on a 4" or 5" exhaust kit. The kits come with a 3.5" downpipe, and I'm wondering if it would make any difference performance and sound wise going to a 4" downpipe. My goal is to get more of that turbo whistle all though being an early 04 it has plenty upfront while helping it breath better. If anybody has any experience with these kits retaining the cat or have videos of the 4- and 5-inch kits installed, I would greatly appreciate the Help.
Thanks
Tim S
Muffler delete and 4" will be plenty loud. I have a truck with cat delete and muffler delete thats obnoxious. I will be putting a muffler on it when it's ready to drive.

Welcome to the forum!
I have an Excursion with just the muffler delete and still have the cat, and the turbo whistles alot! The motor is "throaty" sounding around 1500RPM too. Sounds mean!
I too HAD deleted the muffler AND the cat but it was way too loud and drew too much attention so I reinstalled the cat. That made it sound perfect. The cat didn't stop the whistle but cut down on the roar enough to please me.

why can’t you have the cat body cut and weld a 4 inch pipe on there and then put it in the 4 inch exhaust. A muffler shop should be able to cut and stretch the neck out a bit to make a slip collar that they can we,d a piece of 4 inch to
