Boy, has it been an eventful evening. My friend and I left about 12:30 this afternoon to head up to Wilkesin (the area here in our area that has lots of areas for offroading) to drive around on some logging roads and also took his quad along. We had a blast most of the day. Even found some snow higher up in the mountains. We went to leave about 4:30, and we got down to the bottom of the logging road, where there was a large puddle. We thought we'd give it a try. Bad, bad idea. The puddle was incredibly deep, and I got stuck, with the left part of the truck under water. Not completely, but enough for water to come into the cab. When it happened, my friend ran down the road to get help. While he was gone, a guy in a late 80's Chevy pickup came along, and attempted to pull me out. All four tires spinning and smoking is all that got us. So I'm freaking out, waiting for my friend to come back. Then I see these two lights coming down the road, about 15 feet off the ground. I'm like what the heck is this...It was a front loader. Apparently there was a gravel quarry down the road, and my friend was able to get help. To make a long story shorter, the front loader pulled me out, we got the truck started (yes!) and we left. But on the way home, it started to have problems, shifting weird, dying, check engine light going on and off. We got it to the local Ford dealer here, and that is where it is right now, with its wet carpet and mud all over. The dealer called awhile ago to inform us that an O2 sensor and an MLP sensor have gone bad, and when they get those replaced they can let us know if anything else has gone bad. I'll keep you posted. Also, I'll have some pictures I can post soon.

Dude, that sucks. I got stuck on a logging rode one time, no one was around either, it friggen sucked! Well at least you didn't damage anything too bad!

Well, that remains to be seen. New news now. Possibility that cylinder #5 is damaged, which would mean fixing that or getting a new small block. That is still worst case scenario though, and I'm still hoping for the best. What happened afterwards when you got stuck? Water in the cab or any other kind of damage?
I've had times like that..
I got my old 4x4 high centered... on the receiver.
We were in the middle of a National Forrest deer hunting
way out there... nobody around.
I was coming down the mountain and was giong to take a sharp left onto a fire trail (almost a V turn) it had a little ditch there... I got thru it w the front and rear tires... Thought hey I got it... then all over a sudden it was just reving. I thought "What the heck"
So I got out. and the rear 2 tires were off the ground prob 6 inches.
That wasn't any fun at all.... Nobody around.
We got to jack the truck up a bit on the axle, hold it there, and dig the receiver out a bit, so I could back up and let it self clearance it self out.
TOok a pretty good long while to get out..
I felt stupid.
Needless to say... the receiver hitch stays in the back of the truck unless needed now
The best equipment you can ever put on the front of a truck is a winch. I have high centered, been in too deep a hole, and been wedged in with my old Bronco, (now gone) and the winch pulled me out every time. I suppose to have a winch on the back would be a really good thing too.

Our 98 Nissan 4x4 we mounted a winch in the bed of the truck by the cab.
Worked great.
I wouldnt recommend putting a winch on the receiver or anything tho... as if you've read my story above... you know why.
I even put a 2500 lb winch on my 4 wheeler, and used a pulley block, to pull my brothers Bronco up the driveway when it broke down... so it may pull a truck out, but I wont chance it
i just put a winch on my truck and i got stuck like you describe, normally thins is where i freak out and call up everone i know with a 4x4 to come help dig pull and get pissed off. but for the first time, i laughed got out, grabed the cable to my new winch and a tree strap, hooked up got in the truck started pulling. no effort from me at all! it was great, you can have so much more fun with a winch because you are not always worring about stucks anymore. the less funn part of the winch was winding it back up neatly.
by the way if you are looking into a winch, check out ntwonline.com and look at the mile marker E9000 lb winch for 400 bucks. i have one and would highly recomend to anyone who goes 4wheeling. life saver.
How deep was this lake????? You have a 4 inch lift and 35 inch tires and got stuck and the cab got mud in it???

Well, it was alot deeper than it looked. It was just right on the side of the road, so it looked pretty safe. I think most of the problem was that there was tons of mud at the bottom, and as my truck kinda started sinking into that it got low enough for the engine to suck something and die. It was a puddle that was alot longer than it was wide. The width was about 3 feet or so wider than my truck, and it was about double the length of it long. It was just a horrible case of misjudgement, and unfortanutely I'm paying for it.
I don't want to come off as a jerk, but they say "always look before you leap". Anyways I hope everything works out for the better. You have one sharp looking truck!
