I went to the Dentist and got a cleaning...4 cavities.

I absolutely HATE the Dentist. I'd almost rather have open heart surgery than have someone drill my gums open! Again...almost.

I'm debating on calling the dentist or not. I'm such a wuss when it comes to Dental stuff...I think I've watched too many movies or something!

Now come on True, we would prefer to meet you with a FULL set of teeth in H-town, unless those are your only 4 left?

I hate the dentist too, but a few years ago I had to get over it and get some work done. Ask your dentist about nitrous oxide(?) (laughing gas?) to help calm your nerves, it really helped for me.
My new dentist uses some kind of knockout pills. You take pill, sleep for an hour, wake up and you're done. I haven't tried this but it sounds better than the gas. I'd prefer to be out when they fire up the equipment. ZEEEEEeeeeeeeeeezzzzzeeeee....
Sorry, that probably didn't help.

I share your fear in dentists. I have not been to one in 10 years!! I finally decided to go when a friend of mine was in dentistry school to be a dental hygentist. I guess the deal was she had to find patients to learn on. They have regular dentists on staff watching over. To make a long story short, I had no cavities and came out with clean teeth!! But I've had them before, and I absolutely hate the drill... OUCH!!!! I think the only thing that I hate more is anything to do with needles. Heh, they have a note on my file at the doctors office that I have to be laying down for any needle work, as I have a tendancy to faint. Yet.. I volunteer to run into a burning building.. go figure!

Nitrous helps, it makes you feel relaxed.. But the dentists look at you like your a wuss if you ask for it. I think of it as something to make my visit more enjoyable..

Gee, and I enjoy going to the dentist and getting my teeth professionally cleaned 1-2 times per year... But then I have an absolutely painless dentist I have been going to for 20 years.

Yeah, I get my teeth cleaned 3 times a year also. I have about 7 or 8 crowns. At about $600 bucks each. I bit on a Dorito once and a corner of a molar came off. Take care of them, you only get one set. You think it is bad now. When I was a kid the dentist I went to did not use Novacain when I got a filling. Now it is a piece of cake. He even uses some kind of wipe to deaden the skin before the Novacain.

I guess I'm lucky!

I have never had a cavity before. I guess it's in the genes. My brother has never had one either. We don't do anything special. as a matter of fact I usually brush/floss only once a day at bed time. As Brooke Shields once said, "don't hat me 'cause I'm beautiful". Hehe.

Sounds weird, but I actually like most of the drilling and stuff. Got 2 crowns and 1 root canal in the last few years and felt at peace while the dentist drilled. (just novocaine)

It might have to do with the relief of pain.

Being the only breadwinner for my family, I kind of see it as a spa or something- a chance to spend money on myself for once instead of everyone else.

i dont like going to the dentist, because for some reason i never notice that i have a cavity until he takes his little jackhammer out and screws around with my teeth. Then he informes me i have one, and schedules to get them fixed like 2 months away. Meanwhile i have to go home and deal with the pain he caused me until he can fix them.

I hadn't been to the dentist in about five years. Finally had to go because I broke a tooth. I needed a root canal and crown. After all of the horror stories I heard, I didn't want to have it done. But it ended up being painless before, during and after the whole thing was done. I even had three tiny cavaties filled, that were a piece of cake. Technology has come a long way, and a dentist visit is not the same as we remember it from when we were kids. But the drilling sound is still aggravating!

My last trip to the dentist involved being sent to a specialist and having three wisdom teeth pulled out....now I feel dumber..maybe that is cause i am in arkansas?

wanna hear an Arkansas/ dentistry joke?

Did you hear that the Toothbrush was invented in Arkansas?

If it was invented anywhere else it would have been called the Teethbrush!
