I’ve been trying to troubleshoot a problem with my door locks on only the left side, as well as the lift gate, of my 2001 Excursion. It’s new to me and this is how I got it, so I don’t know if one went at a time or all together. Driver’s door and lift gate both lock and unlock manually so it’s not the linkage. When I hit the lock or unlock bottom in the Ex or on the key fob, only the passenger two doors lock/unlock.
Is there a fuse/relay that would control those three and not the other two? Couldn’t find anything in my manual on side-dependent fuses/relays, but it just seems weird to me that only that side is affected. It does have a Compustar remote start… could the signal flow from the lock/unlock button in the Ex be interrupted on just that side?
The actuators in the doors are known to fail. I'm not guaranteeing that that's the problem but it is where I would look first. Replacement is not too bad and you should find a write-up on it in the tech folders linked at the top of the main forum page.
I found removing the factory actuators to be a nightmare, so I just ordered an inexpensive aftermarket power lock kit and installed the actuators (only) from that kit. $26 for all 4 on eBay. Simple install, minor rewiring, and all has been good for 10 years. One actuator eventually failed, so I bought 2 more actuators for $8 and replaced it. I left the OEM actuators in the doors - the new ones have enough power to easily overcome the added resistance.
By "lock and unlock manually" do you mean you can lock,/unlock with the key?
Mine didn't work with the fob, buttons, or key. I could lock it from inside manually but that was it.
If this is your situation, pull door panel trim, loosen door handle from door and there's enough space to squirt everything with penetrating lubricant and exercise the crap out of the lock mechanism until it frees up and starts to work again. You don't need to disconnect anything completely, it can all stay in place.

That is what I meant, thanks for being able to interpret me haha. I didn’t think about lubricating them… I’m still in search to know if there are side dependent fuses/relays. I feel like I’ve read that there is a fuse panel somewhere on the passenger side? Do you know anything about this? Thank you!
