door lock/unlock problems

2000 expedition. Somethimes the door locks will lock/unlock, sometimes they won't, they are getting power as they try to lock/unlock but don't seem to have enough. sometimes maybe 2 doors will work while the others wont. it's a random thing. Is this an issue with the main power door lock relay or something? Any help would be greatly appreaciated. THANKS!

Maybe I can re-phrase this. The locks seem to be lazy at times. you will have to push the lock/unlock button several times to get them to work & sometimes they wil rapidly cycle if you hold the button down however the locks wont move.

This is something that I would really like to get fixed in a hurry. Any ideas???

I am not sure, but I am guessing it might be the main power door lock module/relay. Does anyone know where this is located at?

Thanks guys!

It sounds like one of the actuators could have a shorted coil. Have you connected a voltmeter to to the wiring at one of the actuators and taken a reading? This should tell you if you're getting sufficient power or not.

My kids are grown so I keep the safety off. Every so often someone gets locked in the back because the slider moved to the lock position. I'm ready to drive a screw into the thing to hold it in place.

re:

sounds like a bad door solenoid to me. I bet a new one would solve the issue if you've got juice on the plugs.....
