Question Headliner clips rattle

Above the headliner, there are plastic blocks that the coat hangers screw into. They clip into something at the roof, but they dont clip in tight, they sit in loosely and can be shaken by hand a few centimeters each way. They make a subtle knocking noise when going over bumps / vibration. You can test this by pushing up on the headliner right by the coat hook.

When you remove the coat hook and dome lamp in the back by the door, then pull the headliner down a little, they are tricky to reach. I had some luck sandwiching a piece of thin foam between the coat hanger hook and its anchor clip. I also stuffed a piece of foam between the roof and the clip, it has helped a little. I need to do the other side.

Has anyone dealt with this? It's not the sunroof or the shade, it's the clips rattling.

Mine aren't loose and don't make any noise.

They will not feel loose while the coat hook is screwed into them, but you'll be able to push up on them slightly and hear a faint 'tap'. When you unscrew the hook, you will see you can jostle around the plastic anchor the hook screws into

My driver's side rear is rattling and the driver's side front has a rattle at the headliner, RIGHT in my ear. 37k miles and both just started in the last week or so.

Glad the hear I'm not the only one... hopefully I can fix it. Rattles are enough to make me want a new truck.

That's the manufacturers plan. Keep the customers wanting new.

Hi, Chris. Feel free to send us a DM with your vehicle's VIN and mileage. We'd like to look into this for you.
