Sagging Ceiling
Sagging Ceiling
On the passenger side of my single cab 95 F350, the ceiling has randomly began to sag, and I dont know what i should do about it. I dont want to reupholster it, is there any kind of penetrating glue that i could spray on it and push it back onto the ceiling? Any suggestions be appreciated
Best way would be to take down the headliner and redo it, but since you say you don't want to.........I would see if I could get an edge of the fabric loose, spray some rubber cement in there and stick it back up. It should hold for a while, but will probably just continue to sag with time. Or you could always go with the thumb tack look........
I agree w/ triton. Just take it down and redo it. The glue has most likely just failed and it'll only get worse from this point on. Headliners are very easy to take down imo. Once you pull the whole thing down, see if you can remove the fabric w/o damaging it. If you can, just pick up some 3m spray adhesive and hit both sides, then reapply the fabric using a roller. I would think this would do the trick perfectly. Also consider some vibration/sound deadening material on the roof while the headliner is down. Makes a big difference in wind noise imo.

If you have an local fabric/upholstery shop, you can find the headliner material there. It has a thin foam applied to the fabric already and use contact cement to stick it to the headliner board.

Triton beat me to it again
Yes, the dynamat (just one brand), I personally used second skin audio products are a lot of research, is applied to the roof itself. I applied 2 layers of their damplifier then one layer of overkill before reinstalling the headliner. There should be plenty of room in there for you to do 2 layers of whatever brand you choose.
anyway, if you have any questions as you go through the install, just let us know

dudes....I took the headliner down, and I knew instantly this job wasnt going to be easy. I pulled the liner back just fine, but when I added the adhesive and tried to put back its all wrinkly and nasty and really fu**cked up. Do you guys know where I can buy one, this job is horrible, damnit.
Yeah I tried the roller, but the new glue wouldnt follow the old contour of the liner, it came out okay, but deff not new looking. It looks just as ugly as before, minus the sag, now its just sort of ripply looking, but its okay, I will look for a new one or have someone do it for me. Thanks again guys.

sorry to hear bro. Did you try using a roller to put it back on? I'd almost say a 2 person job. One person to hold the loose end up, and one person to slowly roll it back on.
