F series #1 selling vehicle in usa Aug 2022!!!

August sales figures for the automotive sector are in, Ford F-series was the number one selling vehicle in the USA for the month! Over-all Ford sales increased 27.3% Not only did ford have the number one selling model, but it had two models on the top 10 best sellers list! The F-Series and the ford Explorer (the explorer increased sales 124.7% over aug of 2021, wow). For those keeping track, there were 1,151,239 total cars/light trucks sold in August (total sales, all mfgs, new sales). It looks like it will be another record profit month for ford. Ford's getting the job done, in august ford delivered 157,062 cars/light trucks, owning 13.6% of the total market (USA), last august ford delivered 123,343 units and had 11.2% of the market-big gains on both fronts. The chip shortage is over, but the supply chain is still holding things back-at least one big oriental country is not shipping as promised. That and the railroad Unions are looking to take advantage of the state of the economy and go on strike-this will further delay a lot of parts. Nonetheless, ford, "got-er-done" in Aug. As 75% of new cars are hauled on trains, this is going to really hurt dealer's lot inventories, and may cause some of the unscrupulous dealers to get those "dealer added profit" stickers back out! Cars from Korea, Japan, EU can start pouring in, good news, used car prices will drop like a rock, once there is plenty of inventory (as a sector, I know someone will respond, I'm a great car trader, get richer every time I buy a car, use it for a couple of years, then sell it-I'm excluding those great guys), not on every single vehicle, but as a sector of the economy. I hope the railroads are able to get even higher wages, better retirement, etc. without a strike.

I'm wondering if all the mexican made fords will be hurt by a railroad strike, I don't know, maybe someone on this board does, but I think most of those vehicles are shipped via rail.

I don’t get it, f series has been the top seller in the US for a long time. What’s the excitement about?

yep. Ford needs to learn a thing or two from Toyota on continuous improvement instead of change for the sake of change.

I think you've picked the wrong forum to ask a question such as this. May I suggest you go to a subaru forum?

I paid 60k for a new f series this year. What did you get from ford lately? How new are you to fords that the f series being a sales leader is some kind of news worthy event?

actual long time ford owners know there is a lot of room for improvement in quality control on F150s and super duty’s that ford can learn from the experts. To pretend otherwise makes you look like a young brand fan who never had the real world experience.

HAHAHAHA, Owned Fords for 50+ Years. Regarding your question, about ford's F series being a sales leader, you're surprised at this being newsworthy (one word) event! I'll be happy to help you out, we in the USA, along with the rest of world went through a Pandemic-and a chip shortage, and a supply train slow down!!!! Any one of these events by themselves are enough to drastically reduce the number of vehicles by any given mfg for sale! Now let's look at it a little further, when you put all three together, the ability to mfg becomes a balancing act., a good example would be, building tens of thousands of trucks, minus a part, or a chip, or people to install etc. Ford was able to mfg vehicles in this environment, enough to be a sales leader!!!! That is Newsworthy, not only to those that pay attention the market, but to the state of our economy in general. I hope this helps; you seem a little confused!

Ford has over 40,000 SUVs and Trucks built; minus some parts the supply train is/was unable to supply! This is affecting 3rd quarter profits (still in the black), but will result in a glut of new vehicles hitting dealers in the 4th quarter (if ford is lucky and gets the parts, they need to finish these units). I'm predicting a further drop in the market value of used vehicles This Year, we've already experienced several months of prices coming down (this means for the entire fleet, not one special truck, or one guy's experience with a f450 etc., BUT the entire fleet!). We, ford fans, may overlook other brands, but as the total days sales inventory of new cars/light trucks increased nationwide, the supply part of -supply and demand -seems to always work. We won't have long to find out!

If Ford or any forum concerning its products cannot or do not want to face reality that not everyone agrees their products are really, really the best in the world, not prepared to discuss why their loyalty is justified perhaps leaving all forums would be a good idea?

Just to bring this full circle...

We love our 2008 Subaru Tribeca and the 128,000 of trouble free miles it has given us. This thing has been from MT to FL to MD to AZ on Jeep trails, deep mud, BLM land and Forest Service roads.

Not once has it let us down. (Knock on wood)

Have a nice day!

we still have a 1998 Camry that has 210,000 miles on original everything except water pump and battery. Runs like new.

my wife’s aunt had a 2001 lexus ES that she ran into the ground at 360k because she negelected basic maintenance.

in my neck of the woods it’s very common to see 25-30 year old XV10 and XV20 platform Camrys doing daily duty, run hard and put away wet. How many people can say that about 90s Taurus, Tempo, Escort, Contour?

The only early 2000s ford sedan I still see are the rare Panther body cream puffs that are babied and garaged like mine.

Engines were fine, transmissions were schit.

In my area of SE Virginia, new F-150's have been slow to get out but the GM twins are ruling the roads. I'm gonna have to wash my mouth out with Lysol but, I sure do like the looks of the new GM's, especially the GMC's. I'm unsure of their quality, probably typical Detroit average hit or miss.

I just can't wrap my head around why anyone is buying anything now and for the last two years. I saw a poll and yes a poll is a poll is a poll but it stated that 7 of 10 homebuyers in the last two years are unhappy with their purchases because they've come to realize that they paid far too much.

As the dealers start to negotiate again and they will, people are going to try to roll up their negative equity into the new car and create a domino that will take 10-12 years to unravel.

My daughter and SIL both get the dumbschit award for buying a gently used Bronco Sport for more than the MSRP was new six months earlier. I begged them to take a step back and wait till 2023 but dad don't know schit.

My 2005 Corolla went 203k miles with only two actual repairs, clock spring and blower motor. Outside of routine maintenance (tires, brakes, spark plugs, oil/filter, air filter, battery, serpentine belt, and coolant) the car was original. Lost it do to rust/rot in 2021.

As far as F150, ill be honest Toyota makes a better truck. I really think the only thing that keeps the F150 as best selling 1/2 ton is people think they are buying American. I service two local fleets that have Toyota trucks and I literally see those trucks for routine maintenance only up to the 200k mile mark. I service F150s as well and im doing water pumps, radiators, hoses, alternators, starters, power steering pumps, ball joints, tie rods, control arms, and other repairs as early as 80k miles.
