F series #1 selling vehicle in usa Aug 2022!!!
My neighbor just traded in a 2020 RAM 1500 for a 2022 GMC Denali 1500 and the truck is VERY nice. The dealer offered him more for the RAM as a trade in than what he bought it for new 2 years ago. The Denali was a bit of a splurge for him on his 76th birthday and it has everything he has ever wanted in a truck.
Super nice trucks coming out in the half ton category.

My 2005 Corolla went 203k miles with only two actual repairs, clock spring and blower motor. Outside of routine maintenance (tires, brakes, spark plugs, oil/filter, air filter, battery, serpentine belt, and coolant) the car was original. Lost it do to rust/rot in 2021.
As far as F150, ill be honest Toyota makes a better truck. I really think the only thing that keeps the F150 as best selling 1/2 ton is people think they are buying American. I service two local fleets that have Toyota trucks and I literally see those trucks for routine maintenance only up to the 200k mile mark. I service F150s as well and im doing water pumps, radiators, hoses, alternators, starters, power steering pumps, ball joints, tie rods, control arms, and other repairs as early as 80k miles.

Toyota builds great cars and trucks-the facts are the facts. I must say, when I read where someone is comparing a TRUCK to a car for total trouble-free miles, I chuckle. Why not compare a Large Water-cooled Honda motorcycle? Or anything else that is not a truck? In the Honest world, when comparing a pickup truck to another vehicle, it would be another pickup truck-and have had a similar work experience. I'd wonder if someone compared a ford maverick, one that took mom to Home Depot once a month, to a f150 that pulled a work trailer every day. Fair, comparisons may draw another conclusion, work history, loads towed, bed loads, quality of maintenance (and frequency), and Cost of maintenance to include Parts and labor, would actually be necessary. I'd say a fleet of 100 trucks, all maintained correctly out of the fleet garage, all doing roughly the same work, day in and day out, over a period of years may lead to a more informed Pronouncement. And as far as I'm concerned 100 is far too small a number, maybe 5000 would deliver a statistically relevant figure.
I cant speak for every F150 or Tundra, but out of the 60-70 of each that are in my care the Tundra's require almost no actual repairs vs the F150s. I cant imagine I only see the perfect Toyota Tundras and only the problematic F150s. Truck for truck the Tundra is clearly the better build.
Its pretty funny actually because with the pandemic and vehicle shortage people are trading in 2-3 year old vehicles and getting just about what they paid new. You could do this for the last 8 years with a Toyota. Both fleets I maintain that run only Toyota trucks trade in every 2 years with roughly 70-80k on their trucks. Toyota buys back the trucks for very close to what they sold for new 2 years earlier.
I have a few other fleets with only a few Toyota trucks and they usually take them well past 200k before selling. Those trucks fetch 20-30% more than you could ever sell an F150 with over 200k for.

I have no argument with your post at all, I would point out that the pandemic is over, the chip shortage is over, in General (talking about the fleet, not some-off special order f450 etc) for those counting on "driving almost free", those days are coming to a cliff, if they haven't already stopped (used car prices-again across the US fleet, On average) , Used cars prices reflect this. BTW, it is a shame one must make statements, such as THE FLEET, ON AVERAGE Across the US, etc., but there is always some guy (living in mom's basement) that will post something about a guy he knew in High School 30 years ago (remember still lives with mom), he ran into the other day, and he[the high school class mate] told him, how he had just used an f150 for four years, put 140,000 miles on it, and sold it for more than he paid!!! This is why I add the, on average, fleet, etc.

Not awkward for me, not at all, in fact there are many auto mfg that build really great vehicles. Let me help, Rolls-Royce builds the gold standard in luxury auto, does that mean all others build crap? No, for those that would think that, well- their poor understanding of English, and their ability to comprehend the fact that more than one mfg can build Great quality-at the same time in history is in itself sad. Another example, just because some fat kid, now over 30 years old, still lives with his mama, and is ID'd as a sloth, does not mean he is the only one, in fact, there seems to be quite a few. Our country has far toooooo many of these sloths.
My problem with the big, beautiful Tundra, is the limited mill choice, no more V8, etc. But they are building some tough A** trucks in Texas-that's for sure. Food for thought, I remember when a lot of "experts" said, "those Toyota and Nissan cars and little trucks will NEVER be any real competition to the big three...'!!! I think these are the same guys that keep saying, ford is going for "order only" business, and we'll never see full car lots again, or rebates, or discounts etc.-the same guys singing the song, if you will. As the Toyota Tundra continues to gain market share, we may see some HD models arrive on the scene. With Toyotas new solid state battery hybrids coming to the states in 2025MY, Toyota may surprise us all with a new drive train for the Tundra, and the HD Tundras, that would be great. In regard to Ford's quality, there is nothing like competition to make everyone try to improve, thus make more money.
Nissan gave it a go with that Cummins XD model, but that went by the wayside without even a gas engine offering in that model.
I imagine Toyota took notes and will streamline their offerings (see one engine in Tundra) and just go to town with what works for them.
It is a real shame Toyota can't sell their V8 Diesel in the US, it is a wonder of engineering, proven in the worst environments across the world, it is tough and long lasting-just like a Cummins. As everyone knows Toyota build big heavy trucks, they are sold throughout the world, I don't know why they don't sell a HD truck here. Then again, there was a time when nobody thought Toyota would ever sell a full size 1/2 ton, much less make it in Texas. Interesting times we are living in.
