I have a 2022 F-350 dually. I want to mount an onboard air compressor with tank and lines somewhere under the bed. I'm interested is seeing photos and/or diagrams of installations anyone has done. I had a 2019 F-250 and had an ARB Twin compressor with tank installed. The installation was less than optimal. I'd like to see ideas for either ARB or Viair, or any other brand you might recommend. I'd rather not mount any components inside the bed. I'd like to keep everything out of sight. Thanks.
I was going to suggest this very thread! I copied this almost exactly! Also, @Squirrel13 was very helpful when I bombarded him with questions! I love it. I actually just came in from topping off the air in all 4 truck tires and all 4 camper tires. It's so nice having OBA... and my air horn is pretty awesome too!
I have had all installed for about 9 months now and as far as I know, it's all still good. When I get back home next week I am going to drop the spare and check all the bolts to make sure it's still holding tight. But if you are wanting to go with an ARB and an air tank, this is a great option.
Just got mine back from getting done. I had a local guy I know do the install for me. Pleased with it so far. We're just waiting on a fitting to come in so I can get an air fitting in the bed installed. I bought the ARB remote hose coupling kit and were attempting to get it to work with this install, as it's designed to work with an ARB compressor and braided hose. I really like the clean look and fit it presents so hopefully we'll get it work together. Last picture shows what I'm after in that aspect. Of course I also had the horns thrown in there too 👌.
I like the cleanliness of the under bed install, but I don't like the idea of exposing the compressor to all the water, salt, snow, dirt, brimstone that gets flung at us in the North East.
This is my install, it is all located on the passenger side of the truck between the frame rail and the body. The compressor and air valves are mounted in cut down battery boxes to protect them from the elements. One other note is that no holes were drilled in frame to mount any of this system. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...completed.html

This right here gives me great pause in installing one under the cab. The F-450 I got, the previous owner went one step further when installing on board air.
He put it in a box in the bed.
This setup works great for me because I actually use the bed box for storing the straps and other items and now store 50' of air hose and tire filler gauge with it. This box is strapped in, and the compressor uses quick connects so if I need to remove the box, I can. It is tied into the upfitter switch too, and the regulator is for the air bags, though I haven't figured out how to get the air out of the bags yet. Tested it out and now have a really good rake to the truck.

I had that same kind of setup on my other truck. ARB dual compressor in the toolbox with a tank bolted to it. Worked extremely well. Tonneau cover on the 450 and want to keep as much bed space as possible. I have a plan coming together, but I won't have a tank... Well, at least I haven't planned for it yet.
I'm still trying to decide if I want to go bakflip or a rollup hard cover. It would be open while towing the 5th and the rollup I had in mind tends to get damaged in transit when open. The bakflip blocks the back window when fully opened, but I think will lay flat to the last section and can be strapped down so not blocking anything. I just need to know more about their different models before I decide, the one I had on my last truck came with it and was beat to crap and water logged.
The last panel on the Bakflip can be left flat and secured down which doesn’t block the rear window and allows room for a 5th wheel, or it can be opened and raised all the way up, but that does block the rear window.
