I will be buying a compressor for the truck and fifth wheel.
Any ideas on a good model or brand?
I also would like ideas for a temporary mounting set up.
It will be for the truck and fifth wheel tires when we are traveling. It would be easier than trying to find or to get close to air at a gas station especially when we are hooked up. It would be simpler to air up in camp.
If you've got room under the hood for an A/C compressor, google for "on-board air" and "york compressor". It'll give you more CFM for the buck than anything else. York compressors were preferred because they have an oil sump, and can move air comparable to a good home compressor.
If belting it to the engine is impossible, there's PTO, or something like a starter motor.
Or, mount a big sausage tank somewhere, and fill it up at a gas station or at home when it's convenient. Get a small electric compressor (like for air horns or air shocks) to top it up. Although, big tank + small compressor = long run time and risk of overheating.
