2014 FX4 3.5 A/C problem

2014 FX4 3.5 A/C problem
New member, first post. My A/C works great until I hit Max Air. It will run about 5 seconds the the A/C shuts off . Turning off the Max Air the A/c comes back on for about 5 seconds then shut off. The only way to reset is key off then restart and back to normal. Works great as long as you don’t touch M.A.
On my climate screen the On/off icon, A/C and Recur icons have a yellow vertical bar next to each button.
My friendly Ford dealer would like me to pay him $158 for the pleasure to inform me what the problem may be and more I bet to fix.
My hope is that maybe someone here may have some insight into my problem.

I wouldn't want to even guess at it without putting hands, gauges and scan tool on it. Could be as simple as reprogramming the hvac module or it could be a bad control unit, or..........
