I put this mini high torque starter on my 390. I haven't started the engine with it as my truck is in pieces, but I did engage the starter to ensure it turned the engine over

Nutter3, what brand of headers are you speaking of? Do you have a pic of the clearance issue. 440 has been wrenching on these things for a while for sure and I agree I have seen a few different brands of headers and all have enough room to roll the starter out. Unless the high torque mini has a cool factor I do not understand, and if it does I want one too for some reason.

I've only had this truck for 6 months, so I'm not sure what brand of headers. Had starter off and tried every which way but lose to get it out. Just not enough room without headers being loose. Tried a few bolts and they are snug, sure out of the 8 I will break one off. Don't really want to take the head off, cause I'll just want to hop it up a little and it really runs fine stock. So I figure for the few extra bucks for a mini starter, it would be cheaper than a cam, lifters, intake, carb and all the little parts. Thanks for the ideas I may be seasoned but I can always learn something.
