This is what Fordpass "My EV Driving Report" looks like after a drive.

Ok I know lots of people have used Fordpass, but I am a new EV owner and first time ever for me using Fordpass. If anybody knows if there is a way to export these reports, I would love to do that to see stuff over time.

Anyways you will see that we got 2.8 miles per kWh and 6.6 miles back from regen. No cruise control, very slight hills, curves and I missed a few big brake regen opportunities.

That’s pretty slick! One of the frustrations I had during my test drive was that I didn’t see a way to tell the difference between regen and friction brakes. I know it’s a blended system, but having some way of telling how close you are to using the friction brakes when pressing the brake pedal would be great for driving more efficiently.

Yeah that was something I tried to find but as far as I can tell there is little to no literature on the "brake coach". What I did figure out though is that if you press the brake hard enough while stopping. The brake regen meter will max out the top and just go away.

What you want is to maximize the time the green regen bar and energy bar are connected. I have attached a pic to best demonstrate what happens when the actual regen or recharge takes place. This may not be correct but its what I have found to maximize efficiency. I do just want to put it out that I do not drive the truck like I would my 2016 F150. I have only used cruise control a few times, but it just kills the efficiency.

What all of this means to me is that we as drivers now have two silly games to play and keep us entertained while traveling...

The first is the ever popular "beat the navigation estimated arrival time" and the second is the new "how much energy can I pull out of thin air".

Absolutely, contest of sorts. I took an actual pic of it brake regen today. So the green bar that will fill up and go down is the amount of force being converted into electricity or brake regen. So that means the higher you can fill that bar AND regen, you are going to get a really nice charge back. The "connected green surge" that is inbetween the battery gauge and regen gauge tells you that you are charging the batteries through brake regen. Essentially the regen gauge for me has mainly been between 1/4 and maybe 1/2 for most of my brake regens. There are a few spots I can get it to almost reach the top, but its very difficult. Anyways here is the pic.

Are you all using 1-pedal drive as well? I didn't know you can initiate regen using the brake pedal. Very cool!

I am not using one pedal driving, I tried it and did not like it. Yeah once you get a feel for when the truck wants to naturally brake regen(coast on certain angles with velocity). You can definitely make it happen on command with the brake pedal once you understand whats happening. Thats atleast how I do it.

Interesting, have you done any tests comparing manual regen vs 1-pedal?

I tried one-pedal mode during my test drive and didn’t like the feel. There’s a noticeable delay when you get off the throttle between when the motors stop making power and when they start regenerating back into the battery. Not sure why the delay, other EVs don’t do this, but it made it harder for me to get comfortable.
