Engine initially started after HPOP replacement, now won't start.
Before the HPOP replacement, the engine was running great, it was just leaking a ton of oil. So I replaced the HPOP, oil lines, ICP, IPR, added a oil crossover line, new fuel filter, rebuilt the fuel bowl and fuel seals, new water pump and probed the wiring harness. Every part I replaced was OEM Ford.
After replacing everything, the engine started up and ran great. I started it and drove it around the block probably 5-6 times, but nothing longer than a mile or two.
Now it won't start. I'm getting a P1280 trouble code, which says my injection control pressure is low, and my reader is saying it's building up to about 160 psi. I disconnected the ICP and the pressure defaulted to above 2000 psi, but it still won't start.
Also the batteries have been on the charger for weeks and I've got a 225 amp car charger connected while attempting to start it.
I'm stumped, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Have you checked the oil after doing all the work? Being as you haven't drove it much orobabsky still has air the the high pressure oil system. It can take a while to get it all out. Need to get it started and go on a long drive.
That 160 PSI is about what a hpop can manage when the IPR isn't doing it's job. Check the IPR valve tin nut, electrical connector, and wiring. The pigtail's for it are notorious for shorting out inside the loom. Everything looks fine all wrapped up nice and neat, but fine it is not. If the tin nut and connector check out ok then I suggest unwrapping the harness a good 6-8 inches checking for any signs of damage or heat.
