Ok, so I am just posting this so some of the guys can see what you might expect if you get the Lightning or another EV. Ford has this deal where you get FordPass, and they give you a free 250kWh. They also link your card to Electrify America(Electric Stations or Charging Stations) which lets you use your phone OR just plug the charger right to your truck and it will autobill you. If you dont want to do that, the normal process is just like a gas pump, swipe the card, insert plug and let it charge.
Ok so all that basic stuff out of the way, this charging station was at a Walmart which the wife and kids needed to go in at anyways. We charged to 80% right at 30 minutes, and hit 90% at 45 minutes. My wife and 3 kids were not out of the store when the truck was done charging. 50kWh at a cost of 0.32 per minute of charging which would have cost $14.65. This means at my F150 Lightning electric efficiency rating of 2.5 mi per kWh going 125 miles cost me $14.65. For an Apples to Apples comparison, my 2016 F150 Max Tow 3.5L 6.5 foot bed which gets 16 MPG, going the same 125 miles would cost $28.50. This is using the fuel price of $3.65 a gallon. If I wanted to compare my 2004 F350 6.0 Powerstroke Diesel which gets 18 MPG, it would cost $32.50 approximately using $4.70 as the price per gallon.
The pics will have everything exact numbers wise, but just wanted to provide average joe swamp dweller experience.Take the plunge, its worth it!
What is a "session fee" and when does it apply, and how much money does it generally cost? I've seen where they are generally $0.99/session, and many places charge a $3.00 reservation fee (so you don't have to wait an extra hour or so in line). If someone, did not have the cost of these mixed into their purchase price (ford isn't giving it away), the cost of your charge would have been $3.99 more, I glad for you, not having to pay the session fee, or reservation fee, but some folks will. I've seen in states such as CA, the cost to charge is based on the time of day, and not a fixed cost. My only take is: the cost of electricity will not be going down, the availability of electricity has a long way to go in order to meet the future demand. Of course, the cost of gas/diesel is dependent on political decisions, as much or more than, how much oil there is. There is a lot of speculation on the road tax situation,as more and more EVs get out on the road, who is going to pay for the roads? The ICE's vehicles won't be able to foot the bill alone, governments have never passed on a new tax, one will be coming for electricity purchased at EV charging station in the future-or so goes my guess.

I can see you're math makes sense, it would not if gas were back to 2020 levels, 2.00/gal. In those days, long ago, it would have cost you $15.62, you only paid $14.65, but if you would have had to pay for the session fee, and made a reservation you'd be out $17.64, maybe (I'm just guessing here) this is why there are those in the country that want gas prices to up in price, with $5.00 being the Minimum they'd be happy with. I'm glad you're getting a "discount", I wish we all were.

2020 prices were an anomaly due to a worldwide shutdown.
the following is US average by month
jan feb mar apr may jun july aug sep oct nov dec
2020: 2.548 2.442 2.234 1.841 1.870 2.082 2.183 2.182 2.183 2.158 2.108 2.195
2021: 2.334 2.501 2.810 2.858 2.985 3.064 3.136 3.158 3.175 3.291 3.395 3.307
2022: 3.315 3.517 4.222 4.109 4.444 4.929 4.559 SOURCE: US ENERGY INFORMATION ADMINISTRATION (EIA) this is of course the U.S. GOVS FIGURES, pretty accurate, as they collect tax on every gallon. Of course the Average price for most states was much lower, as CA has "special" gas, along with their own tax scheme. Hope this helps.
U.S. regular retail gasoline prices averaged $2.17 per gallon (gal) in 2020, 44 cents/gal (17%) lower than in 2019 and the lowest annual average since 2016. AGAIN, my source is the us govt's own EIA.

We should keep in mind, as we've discussed CA's EV mandate, in 2025 (35% and growing), what the cost of electricity in CA has been doing. My research leads me to believe the cost of Kw in California has been going up, way up compared to inflation (or near zero inflation depending upon who you listen to). This is what I found:
MAY 2022 MAY 2021 INCREASE COST IN ONE YEAR
California 27.02 ¢ /kWh 22.75 ¢/ Wh 18.8%
