okay I have a really stupid question, I have a brand new F350 6.7 when I plug my trailer in it connects but doesn't seem to push all the way in. When travelling I get trailer disconnected message and lose my brakes, I stop push it in again and the good for awhile. Lights signals everything else works even when I get the message. I know its not the plug on my dump trailer because it does the same thing with my boat. I have cleaned all of the connections used dielectric grease, but it still does it. Curious if anyone else has come across this?
Is this a new to you 2014, or a new 2022? If its the 2014 I would look a little closer at the socket on the truck. It’s possible through the years the terminals have flattened out a bit, they’re hooked shaped pieces of metal that might have been sprung too many times. The socket assembly is available by itself, they just plug in.

Check for bent pins inside the 7-pin outlet on the truck. If they're all looking correct, then maybe you need to push the 7-pin harder into the outlet.
Check the backside of the outlet to make sure all the wires are securely attached to the outlet.
If the plug is in all the way, the plug door latch will prevent the plug from backing out.
^^this. I had to bent some of the tabs on my camper to make them stay in contact with the truck's plug. Over the years, they widened up and would loose connectivity while traveling but the plug never actually fell out. I was also fortunate in that I only seemed to lose the marker lights, not the brakes or signals.

Thank you all, I will check again tonight but nothing looks obvious and the plug will go in far enough to catch the cover, I just thought it odd that the chances of a faulty one from the factory would be a pretty rare thing

Ha! Ford quality hasn't been stellar the past few years.
