Any advice as to what gear puller will work best for me? I've tried a few from O'Reilly's loan a tool. They just keep slipping off before I can apply enough torque to get the thing to budge at all. I've tried heating up the gear. I'm almost at the point where I'm going to bring it to a mechanic
If you've got to use a puller, I'd generally guess a small 2-jaw would work fine.
Usually if I'm having issues with it "slipping" I'll just get a big hose clamp, or even some Thick Rubber bands, and put them around the outside of the jaws to hold things in place.
Harbor freight is an hour away from me. It's been awhile since I've been, and I've honestly been looking for a reason to go. I have a buddy who has a shop I was going to try to bum off of, but hot damn harbor freight sounds fun!
Looking at the picture, I really don't know how that is going to work. Is it pretty self explanatory when I get my hands on it ?
