Carb and Choke help needed

Looking for help on some vacuum lines, choke, and carb connections as I’m just overwhelmed with the P.O.’s work, Holley and Detroit Iron’s info and Chilton’s lack of info.

The truck is a 1977 F-150 460 w/ Holley 80457 “Street Warrior”.
It’s registered in Cali but a Non-Catalyst model and does NOT have a Thermactor if that helps.

I was told by a smog rep and smog shop I should be able to get the carb through inspection as long as it passes smog.

All help is appreciated. Trying to get this running smooth to take it to the exhaust shop this week. (Straight headers right now. You should hear it!)

Also please no responses “I’d just rip it all out” unless I can pass smog and you’re paying for the failed tests.

Should be a hose routing decal on the bottom side of the hood. Or in the emission section of a Ford shop manual.

I couldn’t tell you exactly how to route the entire vacuum system from memory. You need to find the emissions decal sticker under your drive hood, or purchase factory shop manual for your exact year.

If not you could try some serious googling or even ask the smog guys for the diagrams they use?

No emissions decal under the hood except the sticker on the valve cover.

And I don’t see any vacuum diagrams in the shop manuals I purchased from Detroit Iron. There’s some general images and breakdowns of Emissions related parts but not a true vacuum diagram.

Closest thing I got was this diagram which is a little hard to read and I’m still confused as to where it would connect to the Holley.

Emission control sticker on valve cover

List of emission control systems that should be on there

Vacuum diagram from internet (I think FTE)

Vacuum diagram from internet (I think FTE)

SMOG rep sent me this diagram for a non AC model same as mine 77 460. This is the closest I can get to finding an exact diagram but even still it’s hard to read some of the connections coming off the Solenoid and that passenger side.

If you are referring to the short hose on the metal tube with the nylon barb fitting, that is the cold filtered air for the manifold heater for the choke. Originally it would have went to carb air horn or to a fitting on bottom of air cleaner. Looks like yours is switched to an electric choke so not needed.
