Need some help please. Just pulled from my 78' 6 cylinder. Not sure what it is, doesn't look like the 1100 single barrells.

A. Not a carb guy AT ALL.... probally shouldn't have even pulled it off, but its a teachable/learning moment.
B. If it looks absolutely jacked up, just let me know how I can fix it. The rest of the truck wasnt taken of by the PO, makes sense the carb is the same way.
C. Thanks as always for the help.
This is the backside for the choke. Big reason I pulled it off. Yes that is a peice of wire holding the choke. No I didn't do it.
This is the front. Pointing to where the fuel filter went on. Part #FF2307DL from autozone
Passenger sideside. Also what is that electrical dohickey at the front if it. It wasn't hooked up.
Yup, it's a Carter 1 barrel.
Don't lose that tag, you'll need it to get the correct parts.
That's not the original carb. E0TE-FA is from an 80's vehicle.
That "electrical doohickey" is an anti-diesel solenoid. That's part of the emission control system. These trucks tended to "run-on" when the ignition was turned off because of the emission settings. This solenoid would let the throttle plate close completely to prevent this.
The part you're missing is the automatic choke thermostatic spring and housing. I think these can be bought separately but it would probably be from a carb shop rather than a chain parts store.
Right now you don't have a functioning choke, the PO wired it open. Is your truck "cold natured"? That's probably the cause.
So new question. Finished putting my card back together. However, when I got done, I realized the circled area show below had threads like something is suspose to be screwed in. I know for certain I didn't unscrew anything from there. I have videoed all my work thus far. Anyone have any ideas?
I just bought the electric therm choke spring and housing from AutoZone but that was for a Motorcraft carb. They did have a lot of options though, but had to figure it out online for myself and then order it into the store. Cost me $40.
If I was you, I'd go with what my second option was. Buy the $10 manual choke conversion kit and be done with it. Definitely ditch that wire holding it open though, you'll run so much better.
I've got no ideas for that thread hole, not familiar with the Carter carbs.
