Isspro trans temp sensor question

I think I know the answer to this, though wanted to float this out there to see if I'm missing something stupid.

Installed new EV2 gauges recently, and my trans temp gauge wasn't showing any movement during driving, at first thought the 6.0 trans cooler was working better than I expected, but to make sure I ohmed the pins on the back side of the gauge. No resistance, just open. So, pulled the temp sender and ohmed the pins there, open loop.

Called Isspro, they sent out a new one. Just ohmed the new one at pins before installing and nothing, no resistance. Checked the multimeter on a hot water heater element I had laying around and ohms of resistance read correct on it, so not the multimeter.

Do I have two dud temp senders or am I missing something?

Mabey I'm missing something in your original question, but why not place a flame close to the sending unit and see if it moves.
