High Idle

I know these truck aren’t supplied with a high idle switch, I installed one because I know or have heard that regular idling not good for the 6.7. So I did install one for long periods of idling if needed, mine boost rpm to 1200 and she purr's like a kitten. I do know that these trucks will go into a high idle mode in cold cold weather, at least mine has, but I noticed yesterday when I cranked it up in 99 degree weather it went into high idle which is around 1000 rpm, truck had been sitting for 10 hours. Has anybody else noticed this in 100 degree temps?

100 degrees might feel hot to you, but it is still cold to your engine.

Also, was your A/C on? That can also raise the idle speed.

I have never experienced an elevated idle of 1000 rpm or more, in temps ranging from 14f, to 100f+. But, I have read plenty of posts from those who have. Towards the end of this thread you will find others who may be experiencing the same as you, with hot weather being the suspected reason.
