high idle on startup

Hey guys just wondering if there is a way to program the truck to start and idle normally than ramp up to a higher idle instead of cranking over and revving at 1grand. I never heard of that before on any engine. I would think a cold engine should not be started and revved high until it has started, oil has flowed and what not. Maybe its my OCD, but my old 7.3 used to start and idle than slowly ramp up to a high idle and if you touched the brake it would go back to a normal idle.

Ford programed the computer to idle up when it's cold to help it warm up. Colder it gets, higher the idle. 1000 rpm is not considered high IMO. The truck will tell you if it's too cold to slam into gear and take off down the road.

It's fine. Ford designed the immediate high idle into the startup warmup strategy. I'll even flip on the SEIC switch which I have set to 1,400 RPM if I'm not remote starting it 5-10 seconds after start if I have a few minutes of things to do before taking off. It'll boost to 5 PSI for about three minutes as well with the SEIC.
