High idle on cold start?

Is it bad to kick on the high idle to warm the truck up faster on cold mornings? It's getting to be below freezing at night and I wasn't sure if the high idle would be a bad idea with the engine sitting overnight.

Kick on the high idle! 1200rpm seems to be a sweet spot for quick warm ups. Put your EBPV on a switch if you haven't deleted it already for even quicker warm ups.

Our trucks will kick into high idle on its own when its cold. No need to do it. Once the truck stops the high idle on its own, then it be ok to switch it manually. Definitely do not start the truck right up and switch it manually into high idle.

from some threads the PO of my truck posted before he sold it to me I think the EBPV is unhooked. How would I check to be sure?

When I started it this morning it idled normal at first, but when I went back out 5 minutes later it was idling at 1100. I tapped the throttle and it idled back down, is this normal behavior for out 7.3s?

Even if the EBPV is gutted, as you found out your truck will still kick itself into high idle in about 5 minutes after startup. Its 100% normal.
