Ordered a new 22 soon to come in and it will have the factory halogen headlights. I have a couple of questions.
1. Can I turn the DRLs off ? It is a Lariat trim
2 On the Super Duty are the daytime running lights just the 4 lights on? I see a lot of trucks like this
3 Can I just run parking lights by themselves?
4 And the final question....... Is there no DIY mods that you can do if you needed to or is everything thru Forscan
I think I've seen a setting for disabling the DRL.
And, they are just the headlights, no running lights.
And, what kind of "mods" are you talking about?
There are some things done via FORScan. I have the fogs on with my DRL. Yellow fogs contrasting with white LED headlights make for better visibility. The switchback turn signals are also on white with DRL.
In one of my previous Super Duty trucks I hit upon the combination to have only one pair of headlights on. I either did not write it down or wrote it down incorrectly and was never able to do it again after trading that truck.
As far as DIY mods for lighting - if you don't find it in the cluster settings menu I don't think you can do much.

Thank you in advance
You turn all the lights off, including DRLs, at the switch by rotating it CCW to "OFF"
If halogen lights on any trim, the DRLs are the 4 low beam headlights. Some debate if they are full brightness, but still just the ordinary headlight bulbs.
You can run parking lights by themselves, at the switch.
There is no need to get into FORscan. The truck will do everything you seem to be asking for as is.
I think people find a Super Duty with DRLs on a bit intimidating and are a little less likely to pull out in front of you. I run mine more often than not.
I have left my factory halogen headlights alone. I did change the halogen fog lights to brighter, amber LEDs. $25 and about 15 minutes, no tools. I have avoided two deer strikes with the improved visibility.
You are going to want ForSacn anyway IMO. So many annoying and unnecessary warnings you can turn off. Seatbelt warning... off, Door open engine running chimes... off TPMS adjusted so I can run lower pressures without warnings. Lights set so that I can run the fog lights with the high beams (bambi mode) and there are even more things you can do with your Lariat cluster like add numeric values to temp gauges. So worth the small investment to have ForScan with these trucks. Otherwise the thing will be binging and bonging like crazy all the time.
I don’t like the 4 headlights on all the time as the DRL. I turn the switch off when I remember to, or see the reflection and notice it. I’d like to disable the DRLs so I can leave the HL switch on Auto all the time, or maybe even set DRLs to be the parking lights would be nice.
I was on a Toyota website with my 4Runner and they had a DIY page of simple mods you could do. You could do a lot of the things through an app like Forscan but they also had other things you could do. One was you could turn off the DRL for good by pulling a relay and bending a pin over. When I traded back in I just pulled the pin back and worked like normal again

I agree with you on that. Is it as complicated as it looks?
I agree with getting Forscan. In my opinion, it seemed pretty daunting until I actually got in there and started messing with things... Before I got my truck I watched a lot of YT videos, and read lots of threads (there's a good sticky on Forscan at the top of the 2017+ SD page here) and looked through spreadsheets. It was still a bit nerve racking... but like I said, once I had my truck and was able to plug it up and start going through it myself, it wasn't that bad. There are several things that can be changed through Forscan like mentioned above, but it also gives you the ability to read and clear codes, and if you opted for the Diesel engine, you can complete a regen with Forscan. I would suggest getting the recommended cable though... there are plenty of knock offs and some report good things with some of them, but occasionally I see folks talking bout issues after Forscan updates... I think I paid about $50 for the one recommended on the Forscan site (I got the wired version), but if you get the BT version (more $$) you can even use the app to monitor parameters while driving. I am using an iDash for this instead... but it's an option. But, if you decide to use it (recommended) make sure that you understand what you are doing, and triple check when making changes... it's also a good thing to make notes of changes you are making (admittedly, I started too, but then over time stopped...) Anyway, enjoy your new truck!

Thank you and I will order the good cable and start reading the threads.
