Vin Decode please, and Holley info
I’ve managed to get most of my warranty number decoded from checking out countless posts but haven’t ran across the year or axle codes.
Here’s the code: F61DRA30247
F61= F600 gas
D= 330 2v heavy duty FT engine
R= San Jose assem. plant
A30= ??? (1976 model manufactured in sept 75???)
A30247= serial number ???
Looks like it has the New Process 435 trans but I couldn’t find what the F71 axle code is?
Also the Holley Carb has these numbers
C9HF-9510-A
LIST-4184
OB3
from what I understand, the first line (C9HF-9510-A) is a ford reference number that Holley has nothing to do with or at least they don’t use it.
the second line (LIST-4184) is a Holley reference number. Is this a Holley 2300G carb?
the third line (OB3) ??? No idea
There seems to be some conflicting stuff happening with this truck and I have no idea of the history of it. It has an F700 emblem on the hood, which according to the warranty code it is an F600 I think. I found one vin decoder that said it was a 1976 but there is a tag in the cab on the passenger side floor from Lambert Truck Equip. From 1/25/67 with a work order number. Possibly from the dump bed install? I found one site that listed engines with valve covers that used 5 bolts and it showed a 332 (along with others) but not a 330. Close enough? Lol
Thanks for the help,
Bruce

Do a search by "C9HF-9510-A", and find tons of hits along with this one:

Advance through a few pages to page 3 and scroll 4184 and find:

Fits you Holley 2300 and other variations of that carb.
The five bolt valve cover is FE/FT engines. The 332 FE was '58 & '59 only in cars.
The 330 is an FT engine, introduced in the 1964 model year. They differ from the FE in crank, pistons, heads, manifolds, mounting, distributor drive, probably cam and a few other items.
The F700 emblem probably came with the hood. It's not uncommon for body parts to be replaced with different emblems or the bigger problem of bringing the warranty plate over with a driver door....
The dump body would have been installed after production, so the dealer or the first buyer had that installed. Since your truck was produced in October of '66, a January '67 bed installation makes perfect sense.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge. It is much appreciated. I haven’t got the truck home yet as the carb was leaking like a sieve. The truck has been sitting for years so there will be plenty of tinkering, hopefully nothing to extensive. My buddy gave it to me for the whopping price of free so I can’t complain.
I do know it has the two speed rear axle as I noticed the selector on the stick. Very interesting about the “dent side” vs “bump side”. I will make sure both doors match but looking at photos online and going by memory, as well as the dump bed install data tag, pretty certain it’s a 67. Will double check the title next time I’m over at my buddies place as well.
Thanks for the help on the carb as well. I was pretty certain that was the carb and had ordered that exact kit from carb doctors that you pointed out. Also the background on the FT engines.
There’s a wealth of knowledge on here and I appreciate guys like you sharing it.
