So, I "reserved" my Bronco 7/27/20... delays, delays, I get it, not like it was a need, so I've been cool with it, finally got it ordered through the dealer, Madera Ford in April, got an email the other day, it's scheduled for build, yay, finally!
I had sent them my "saved" build to order it off of... Well, seems the sales guy ordered it with an auto instead of the 7 speed manual I ORDERED, his reply was, it's already scheduled to be built, nothing I can do, but... I'll reorder it when we get the 2023 orders and yours will be first in line... effing really?!!
Everyone I have reached out to says, oh, sorry, nothing we can really do, it already has a vin and is scheduled... WTF Ford, seriously?! Again, first world rant, not life or death, but really Ford?! 2 years later, and oh sorry, we can't do anything about it?! How about you make it right in some way, but alas, in today's day and age I'm not holding my breath, seems customer service is just crap anymore, seriously disappointed in Ford and contemplating not getting one at all now.
First new vehicle I would have bought in 20 yrs, because it had the manual trans, and was a Bronco and they screw that up. **** poor performance Ford.
Ford didn't screw up the salesman did. Try calling Ford customer service direct. My son ordered his F-350 last year. Got it just over a month ago, 10 1/2 month wait. Salesman messed up his order but they were able to correct it in time. If the dealership is telling you there is nothing they can do call Ford direct.
I did call Ford, got the same response, "we're really sorry, but it has already been assigned a vin, so we can't do anything about it.." again, just severely disappointed in Ford.
I really hate to say this, and I don't mean to sound obnoxious, but with Madera Fords rep and a good chunk of the areas reputation, I'm really not surprised IMHO.

I am sorry to hear that. I understand your frustration. I think that until it is scheduled to be on the assembly line you should be able to make changes
No trying to be a spoil sport. The vin has all the information on that particular vehicle. They would have to reissue a Vin to change the transmission. So really the only cure is to reorder.

When I ordered my current truck the salesman went over the order with me and had me sign the printout with all of the details once the order was confirmed with Ford. Your salesman should have done the same thing to ensure everything was correct. I’m sorry to hear this happened to you. It really is very disappointing.
Thanks all, yes, not so sure about Madera Ford... everything was done via email/phone, I was looking at the add-ons/accessories, as his price and my price differed, he did miss a few things... I didn't scour the build part, as I told him on the phone, AND the email, but, that's what I get for ASSuming he could follow directions and check boxes... sigh... can you take your reservation to another dealer?
Well OP, count your lucky stars. My son reserved a Bronco the day of the release. The order was not released, and one month ago, it shows up at the dealer, with absolutely NO options. A black Diamond. That’s it. Nothing he built, except cactus color. $15k less than the order would have been. Take it or leave it. That was his dream vehicle. He lives the bronco story and heritage. Wanted what he ordered to keep until he’s 80 some day. He took it, is glad he did, but ford screwed him with no notice.
Now, I want to order one, and can’t. To make matters worse, I see the new Heritage model. Hoping to order when released Q2 MY 2023. NOPE! Only for those with current infilled orders/reservations… and quantities are limited. They did the same crap on my Lightning reservation. After owning over 30 fords in 36 years, I’m ready to tell Ford to shove it. They are turning into a bunch of mismanaged misfits. Promise and underdeliver. Note, the hard top issue as part of the delay was not material issue, but an argument with a second party supplier who leaked the photos before release. Now they show white hard tops, and STILL can’t deliver hard tops, hitches, etc.

And this all proves well that Jim Farley's dream / intentions for Ford pushing less inventory on the dealers and doing more direct ordering / selling isn't going to work. The chip shortage playing right into the auto industry's hand by keeping production low and prices high. Record profits on a fraction of the sales should ring alarm bells to anyone who's paying attention.
Absolutely!! The ONLY way I would get an auto is if I went for the Bronco Raptor... yet that is my hold up for not ordering the Raptor, I like to shift!
Out of all the trucks in my fleet, the only auto is my '02 F350/CC/4x4/7.3 and when the 4R took a dump, I almost considered making it a ZF
Update, Mgr at stealership called and said I would be 1st on 2023 order list, haven't heard from him since, left a few msgs... we'll see, I did get the email with a picture of it coming of the assy line, would've been super excited if it was a manual.
