I went for a 9 mile ride to the gas station yesterday and pulled up in a cloud of steam. Seems my radiator has at least one hole in it. I took it to the local radiator shop today. They said original radiator, evidence of previous repairs and looks like a critter has lived in it in the past. They just called and said it is beyond repair. Where have any of you been buying radiators and what issues do I need to look at before I order a replacement? Thanks

Did your radiator shop give you any options for selling you a new one directly? Usually, a rad shop will have a line on quality replacements, even if they aren't the cheapest ones out there.

They wanted to know if I wanted them to try to find something. They said even with a new core the tank was bad. They did not mention trying to find a whole new radiator.
I bought the radiator for my F4 from LMC. It is a well made brass radiator. The only noticeable difference between it and the original was that the new on from LMC doesn't have the hump in the bottom tank for clearance for the hand crank. If I remember correctly, it was made in Singapore.

I was looking at LMC catalog. It really didn't give much details except extra freight charges. Most of the generic ones are aluminum. I would prefer the brass, I think.
I got my radiator from LMC. Looks good. Two issues, the top hose connection is straight instead of angled. I fixed that by going to town and getting a longer hose. Second issue is the radiator cap is a different size. Looks like another trip into town.
