So, I was posting recently about some parasitic drain, some may have followed and participated in the discussion. I elected to replace my fuse box/smart junction box to see if it cured my issue (didn’t help). First time I really drove it much was this week and I noticed something a little strange after replacing the fuse box with a junkyard FB. I now seem to have running lights (daytime lights) and I am 99.9% certain that not something I had before. This has to be an abnormality, right? I didn’t notice if the taillights were on, but I noticed the headlight reflection on the back of a vehicle I was following. Thought I’d double check with the forum to see if my memory is playing tricks on me, before I put the original FB back in.
DRL is one of those things that is turned on/off with software and depending on the vehicle the setting may be saved in the body control module/smart junction box.

I wondered if that was an option and I searched the OM to see if that was something I could control. You must need to access the CPU using a program and a laptop. I’ve toyed with getting a program to access the CPU, since I have a laptop now, but haven’t really researched. I assume the app or software needed is not free, is it?

Depends on the year of the vehicle, if 2011> you can use what may now be a defunct program that was free to download called FORscan but it's made in Russia and we all know what's going on over there right now.
I used it to make my fog lights DTRL, they come on in any gear other than park. It may be possible to do the same with older than 2011 vehicles but I wouldn't know how as I've no experience doing it.
Ford has it's own software called IDS which dealers use for things of that nature, the software is free to d/l, the hdwr is definitely not free nor is the software license.
Thanks for the feedback. DRL is not all that bad, don’t know if it’s worth the trouble if putting the original SJB back in. Thanks for the info about Russia collusion😂, I don’t plan on going that route, but someday I might want a little more trouble shooting capability.

You can find detailed info on that very thing with this link Ford Service They have software, hardware and all the support information if you wish to DIY at a minimal cost with an online sub and a cable between the truck and the laptop.

I have Forscan with an extended licence and have used it on my 2011 Econoline to change several different things including DRLs, It's a great piece of software and I never realized there was a Russia connection with it.

I didn't realize it either at first. They basically reverse engineered Ford's IDS and put a new wrapper on it. Well, they did make it a little more intuitive than IDS which I also own.
Forscan is indeed free as is the temporary, renewable 2 month license to use it. With it and a good OBDII adapter I was able to change the number of lane change turn signal flashes and correct my speedometer error when I changed tire size. It does have a learning curve but there's plenty of info available. https://forscan.org/home.html
