The 2.4 and 7.2 KW is only available on the powerboost hybrid because it uses the battery pack and the 35kw motor/generator.

No such items exist on the superduty and I have read no such plans exist currently to offer a hybrid SuperDuty.

Best you could do on a superduty is to get the trans with the PTO option and get a generator that runs off of a PTO, which im not sure any actually exist, but ive never researched that to much.

You missed it but a few weeks back, there was some news that Ford is working on a hybrid SD.

It's my opinion that a tradesman or commercial worker who needs that kind of power regularly AND is hauling serious loads is better off having a generator of suitable size rather than having the truck provide the 7200w.

That being said, I'm sure if they build a hybrid super duty, it'll sell.

I think for many it would be the opposite. A 7,200-watt genny isn't a small unit. It would weigh over 100 lbs and take up much of the truck bed, and you'd need a second person to load and unload it. Then you have to strap the thing down, fill it with gas, change the oil, and fix it when it breaks.

Or you buy the integrated generator and just drive the truck. The truck's powertrain components are also rated for a lot higher duty cycle than most portable generators. Get something commercial-grade and the costs and weight go up with the capability.

Of course Ford changed the packages for 2022 so using the 2021 file can only get you close. Below is what I pulled from the 2021 file for my order; but I didn't find the file until a couple of months after ordering. In addition, some guy just received a 2022 Lariat that was outfitted similarly to my order and his truck arrived with a payload of 1228 lbs, which would not leave me any margin if my numbers are off by that much.

Are you double counting some stuff? I have a Lariat with most of the stuff you list and my door sticker says 1850 lbs. I'm assuming that number is for the truck as configured.

Nope, not double counting. The truck showed up at the dealer yesterday and is going through dealer prep now, but I swung by the dealership and checked the payload sticker. It said the truck as equipped has available payload of 1444 lbs. If I had ordered my truck with power running boards and a moonroof, I'm sure I would have been in the 12-1300 lb neighborhood.

Regarding your 1850 lb Lariat; the SuperCrew Powerboost 4x4 in the base XL configuration with no additional options has a maximum of 1830 lb payload according to Ford. Based on that, you must have missed the powerboost (PB) notation in my post.

Def weigh the trailer tongue. I had an F350 so I was good but one day I got curious and wanted to see how much my "half ton towable" bumper pull toy hauler weighed. 900 advertised, but the actual was around 1500 empty. I'm assuming with toys in the back the front would get lighter, but it explained why my 350 was squatting.

Yeah, I'd imagine a TT toy hauler is designed with a ton of tongue weight when empty to account for the weight of the toys that would be mostly, if not completely, behind the axle. They need to have adequate tongue weight after you put that side by side in the back. That's not a big surprise at all.

Boats and standard travel trailers are probably much less likely to have that much overkill on tongue weight.

I found your post regarding F150 payload very helpful- Thanks.
Your estimate came relatively close- excellent understanding of the system or a little luck?
If you don't mind, a few questions.
Where did you get the Bed Utility 73#? From the Ford guide, I get around 49#- Cleats and tailgate step.
20" wheels 34#/wheel seems steep. Power seats 13# total or each?
Ford certainly does not make it easy.

I am using the information to approach the problem from a different direction.
I have contacted 5-6 dealers to get door and window stickers for Powerboost F150 on their lot.

So, I am taking the actual PayLoad and adding unwanted features back in.
4x4 260#, moon roof 64#, Skid 28#, Bed utility 49-73#= 401-425#

Example: Lariat High- 1401#PL- go to 4x2 and remove moon roof, FX4, Bed utility goes to 1802-1826
Since I am unsure about 18" wheels/tires- I am leaving that out to offset trailer mirrors.

Any clarification regarding Bed Utility? Wheels?

I am thinking- Powerboost, Lariat mid, 4x2, Max tow, Sport Package (says it allows 18" wheels), 360 Assist, 7.2Kw, tow mirrors- should come in some over 1800#. I am going to look for a dealer that can go through the numbers.

How is your truck doing? What are you pulling?

Thanks,
Reid

I tried to send a PM, but was not smart enough. Anyone- how do you send a PM?

I agree your approach should get you in the ball park.
I used the weight information from a .pdf file available on the Gen14 forum:
https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/thre...tures-etc.202/
I don't remember how exactly I came up with the individual items in my list, I may have combined some and interpreted others from how they were listed in the 2021 reference .pdf file.

Edit: I looked at the file again and think I used an item called "Pick-up BoX Access Steps" which was 63#, but should have used "Tailgate Step" which is 40#. Adding in BoxLink Cleats and bed lighting was the additional 10#.
