Lets try this again: Replacement slider rod/cable/thing
About a year ago, @77&79F250 send me what seemed like the proper cable/rod thing to get the slider mechanism to function with the bench seat in my 75. It... kinda worked; it felt a bit too short and it also felt that any time moderate pressure was applied to the rod, it'd come off its perches.
So two questions:
1. Is there anywhere a decent instruction video or document that shows how to properly install it? I may be doing it wrong...
2. If I do end up having the wrong rod - does anyone make a replacement anywhere? Or is there anything that explains how to make your own?
I wish you would of reached out after you got it installed and let me know you had a issue. I would of then and will gladly now source you another one. So you are talking about the 2 part cable/rod that connects the dvrs side handle (that is also the lock for that side) and the slider/lock mechanism on the passenger side correct?
On my red truck bench seat it merely went thru a hole in the bracket on the passenger (S shaped bend in the rod end) side and came over to the dvrs side. And then there is a threaded metal piece in the middle to adjust tension to keep the rod like cables tight.
Have you lubed the sliders, did you try and adjust the tension of the cable? Are you sure the seat is mounted correctly and the sliders are not binding up? Are you sure you have the dvrs side in the back hole? I have seen the cable made out of old school wire coat hanger.
And a little more detail, S shaped end on the passenger side. Red circle in middle is adjustable tension piece. Pretty sure the red circle on dvrs side (goes in back half of bracket) for the the 1/2 round hook part. Take the seat out, flip it upside down, spray clean the sliders/tracks with brake cleaner. Then spray lube with WD white Lithium grease. Then ck attachments points and rod tension. When you pull the handle both sliders should unlock and slide easily.
Nooooo! The opposite - I 100% appreciate you sending me the part and in no way was I intending to make it sound like I am dissatisfied!! At the time, it worked - I mean I knew it was a bit funky but I also was not able to find it anywhere else and figured maybe I was just being a complete noob. Then the truck was off at the shop for almost 10 months... I just got it yesterday and realized it was not sliding anymore. So again - I not accusing or indicating I got bum parts or anything; we all know these trucks have a zillion variations of components - and you did give me a fair warning!

So the rod I got doesn't have the center piece; I thought it was odd because I too saw that in diagrams - but figured that maybe my year needed a different rod. Mine is a long solid piece but it does have the hook on one end and the S on the other. And yeah, the sliders are actually nicely lubed; move pretty well once the locking mechanism is released.
Ok no problem, I just wanted to make sure you were a 110% satisfied customer ALWAYS. I have 3 more new parts trucks in now. I can yank each seat give it a flip and see what set up they are. I sure can get you a different one.
Double check the attachment ends, make sure the release handle is not bent. I guess you could make one out of some round bar stock in a heavy duty size compared to the current.

Yeah - I rechecked both, and they are definitely not bent. I have not removed the seat yet (been a busy work week) but I can see the rod floppnig around. The driver side release mechanism moves great - nothing bent; the driver side I haven't reached that far yet - but it looks free of obstruction as well.
Parts truck for pics and parts. And the build sheet and buck tag....Dvrs side
