I have a kickdown cable that i'm trying to install on my 1979 f150 with a 460 and c6, however the original kickdown rod is not connected to the carb, but is there. It doesnt reach or i would just use the rod. This is the cable:
I need to know where 1,2, 3 go. 4 goes where the kickdown rod attaches to tranny. 1 goes on carb linkage, but not sure where, ( Edelbrock 1411) pictured here:
You can see the original kickdown rod behind the linkage a few inches shy.
Well I'll be honest I've never seen a kickdown cable before but as for your rod being too short I Edelbrock makes an "Automatic Trans. Rod Extension Kit for Ford" part # 8011. Hope this helps.
it seems as though I have extra linkage on the carb that I can take off? and I dont have the spring return bracket as pictured in the manual? I have a spring return in front of the linkage instead of behind, and the throttle cable does not have a way to connect to the kickdown adjuster bracket.
Okay, so I am missing the carb bracket shown in your picture 460me, however, I have extra linkage on my carb that you do not have, So I am wondering where I can connect it? Or should I just take the extra linkage off? See my pictures for reference. Thanks
