This has no doubt been asked before but I cannot find the question nor answer so I am hoping one of you van help!
Are the hood hinges the same for all 1953-1956 F100s?
Thanks and I hope you All get some time this weekend to play with your truck, I know I am planning to work on mine!
No. 56 is different because of the different windshield. I think if you used a 53-55 hinge on a 56 the hood would crash into the windshield. I have heard that a 56 hinge may work on a 53-56 but not vice versa. Not sure about that....
The 56 hinges are different because they have to lift the hood slightly differently due to the 56's more vertical windshield. The shoulders on the hood hinge bolts are bigger also.
Thanks guys! So does anyone know if the 56 hinge will work on the earlier trucks? Does one open more than the other? Meaning which hinge has more lift?
the other question is, would a tilt hood be better? Which hood tilt kit is Best?
As some of you have seen, I had bought Billet Hinges from Ring Brothers but they do not work properly. When I called them to see if there was something I am doing wrong. They said that they Do Not make hinges for a 53-55, they only make them for a 56! That is why I asked what the differences are from 53-55 hinges vs 56 hinges! Anyone have any ideas?
Eddie Motorsports sells them for 53-56! 53-ve any of you used the Eddie Motorsports hinges and are you Happy with them?
Nick, search "Eddie Motorsports" on this forum and you will find some discussion about these including mine. They are better than the stock and reproduction copies but are still not without issues. The hoods on our trucks are so heavy and flexible that is seems impossible for the hinges to open/close both sides in unison. Adjustment is critical and finicky. I will say that these hinges do close the hood in the same location consistently.

So I ordered Eddie Motorsports Hinges and they arrived today! So comparing them side by side to the Ring Brothers Hinges, there is definitely a difference! Arm length and shape and pivot points. I got them installed on my truck today, but ran out of time so I will install the hood in the next several days. I confirmed with Ring Brothers that their Hinges are specific for 1956 models only. While mine are brand new, I ordered them 2 years ago so they won't take them back! So I will post them for sale.
