What concerns me most about my finding on that particular truck is, I have a Platinum on order, and from what I read on other threads the payloads are above 4K on 21/22 MY. Adding 900 pounds to GVWR only brings it up to 3800 pounds, so where did Ford cut to add 300 more pound? I can use the additional 700 pounds payload over what I have now and ordered SRW based on that information instead of the added cost of a DRW. Also in IL the DRW having a 14K GVWR would put me in the next tax bracket with registration, F plates instead of D, if it wasn't for that I would have just ordered an F450.
I did some looking around to try to get an idea on a payload calculator and such and actually ran into some really old posts on this forum. Seems I am not the only one who was confused by this
The 2017 MY DID lose payload over the previous trucks. With the GVWR increase of 900 pounds, same built trucks is ~ 4090 pounds payload, subtract the 900 pounds for 2017 and its 3190. Subtract the prep and extra fuel and 2948 does sound about right. It has 493 fewer pounds payload than my optioned out 2012 King Ranch, but the truck did come with a 36? gallon tank vs the 48 and is a short bed with the same GVWR.
Ok no longer confused, and no longer looking at SRW in the older trucks, and I am not getting anything below a Lariat, so DRW it is.
