The A/C has been a bit on the lacking side for a bit, photos will show why.
Digging around for a bit the condenser is about $450 if you can find one anytime in the next 3 years the way parts work, no knockoff stuff in my truck.
Supplies for job:
Thin common screwdriver for smoothing
Slightly curved pick for unfolding the fins and pulling gravel
Stiff medium size nylon brush
Gallon Ice-Tea
Tunes--- Metallica, Megadeath, Slayer, Pantera on shuffle for motivation
Only got about 2/3rds of the condenser as I did not drop the front bumper for access for the rest.
Results.. Truck cooled down in the Texas heat and sun in about 4 minutes while closing up the hangar. If I do the rest of the condenser I bet I can get the time down to 3 minutes.
Total time about 4 hours and crosseyed for another 30 after the job was done.
Lets get started Making progress Done.. Well mostly. Not pulling the bumper today.
And I bet everything breaths and cools better now behind the Condenser.
Jimmy, now I'm gonna cry! I was all set to swamp out a new condenser, dryer, evaporator and orifice tube on my 2002 F-250 CC XLT Long Bed. An F-ing thief stole my truck from a Lowe's parking lot where I work, last night. I had bought the parts last December and was waiting for a bunch of days off in a row. That time was gonna be today, Friday and Saturday. I also have a Master Cylinder to change out, a radio and speakers. I am so pissed because this is the 2nd time in 4 years (yes, I'll say it again) that my truck has been stolen from the same lot. We have video of the A$$-Wipe and his buddy and I filed a Police report within 45 minutes last night. I have no time for these criminals anymore. If they're caught, I'll prosecute. I am SICK of this *****!!

Hope you get your truck back in one piece, If you do you may want to think about installing a hidden kill switch on the ignition or a fuel cutoff switch, cutoff the fuel, they won't make it out of the parking lot.
Definitely on board with your music selection. Recommended bands to check out if you're into that genera of metal... Bolt Thrower, Amon Amarth and Death. ; )
Would think a condenser like that would seriously restrict air to the radiator. Surprised you did not have heating issues. I had my Chevy 2500 stolen a year ago, it was gone for 6 days, the state troopers found it at the casino at Mulvane. All the thieves must be spending their ill gotten gains at the casino. Agree, we need to do something about the thieves. My farm has been hit 3 times in the last 2 years.
Other than the A/C the truck ran normal temps and never gave any indication of having cooling issues.
The cooling systems on the Super Duty's are extremely stout with the exception of the transmission cooler, that is a soon to change out on the list to the 6.0 system.
At the end of the month I am slightly back tracking to my dad's place and we will be dragging a trailer to just south of Memphis in Mississippi to go to my little sisters last wedding I will attend for her. We shall see if it made any difference in overall cooling for the systems, however I am enjoying the cooler A/C.
I suspect that the condenser is over 20 years old... Birds, rocks (I pulled enough fine gravel to make a bag of concrete), road debris, improper use of high pressure sprayers, and such. It all adds up.
Unless I have a catastrophic A/C failure it should last another 20 years.. Fingers crossed.
You know they make a tool called a Fin Comb. When I worked in HVAC/R my boss had one. Every so often like all the time, he would have me perform a fin combing to fix folded over fins that people would do on the condenser coil if it was accessible by the public. Many times it would drop the pressures to save the other components like compressors in the hot summer heat.
Usually the tool has 5 or 6 different fin widths. its on a short handle. Back in my day we didn't wear gloves which made you extra careful of slicing your knuckles open on the fins. This was 25 years ago.
This was similar to what I remember using. They also have single handle ones now with different fin widths. So each handle has one fin width instead of 5 or 6.
So while jamming to Hanger 18 or Raining Blood and drinking your ice tea and Tito's, you could have been washing the truck after banging out the radiators in the front of the truck.
