If this isn’t the correct way to pose or post this question, please advise the proper place. I’m new to the forum and new to the power stroke community. Here’s my issue:
I just bought a 2017 6.7. It’s been deleted. The transmission is shifting rough in lower gears, and the service advance trac, downhill descent control faults/messages keep coming up. I’m also getting white smoke out of this hose (I’ll attach a picture)… I don’t even know where to start and every shop I’ve called is 4-6 weeks out. I’ve checked all fluids. Transmission fluid does smell a bit burnt, but it could just be the normal smell.
The hose is most likely part of a CCV delete/reroute. If you were to follow it, it would lead to the passenger side valve cover. I'm not sure what amount of smoke is acceptable or normal with that setup.
Since the truck has been deleted, I guarantee you the CCV (crankcase vent filter), has been deleted. When you do that you reroute a hose under the truck for it to vent. This will cause some white smoke to come out. Dont worry about it. Have you ever popped your oil cap off while its running? They smoke pretty good but thats how these fords do, so the CCV is gonna do that.Check to see if you have a filter or if its delete. Nothing bad, actually better deleted one less rhing you have to worry about clogging up. Regarding the trans fluid I asked a ford mechanic about the fluid when I should change mine as mine is still red, he said that it's normal for the fluid to have a brown huge to it, and it's still good when its brown. I don't like that though so I change my pan fluid at 30k miles and I am about to do it now. What tuner is on the truck? I will never buy a deleted truck from a dealer becuase they put some crappy cheap tune on it to turn off the codes. This could be your reason for poor trans response and shifting. You need a reputable tuner like ez-lynk, efi live, etc. An before anyone tells you you cannot get them anymore you CAN!! I have found several online. But if you do not want to pay that money for a tune, a good diesel shop will do a 1 time tow safe tune with efi live for around $500. I know becuase I like mine stock till the emissions cause issues and my early 12 model gm was a nightmare so it got deleted. But so far these new ones I dont see a need to deleted but I'm only at 32k so we will see. I bet you are also getting poor fuel economy currently. Now regarding the hill decent lights, stabulitrac, etc. I have seen people say that back by the spare tire there is a connector wiring harness on the drivers side, between the hitch and spare. They day that will get water in it and get corroded and cause these lights. Check it out and clean it.
your probably like me and came from an older ford or like me a different brand (2012 lml duramax) and they run cooler, trans never breaks 200 degrees pulling, and the fluid is still red at 60k on it. Ford, GM, or the poor helpless rams, all run hotter on the new ones. Just gotta get used to how these run.
