...which started discussing window tint and migrated to Aftermarket Rear Slider Windows and Rear Window Rubber Seals.
Fuzzy got in touch with me on PM to ask what Rear Window Seal I used for the Passport (aftermarket) Rear Slider Window that I had installed.
My truck was in the shop (a high quality restoration shop) for repairs from an accident. I had them install the Rear Slider and I provided a Back Window Rubber Seal from DC part number D3TZ-104284-A. Here's the result in pictures. Not Good. Poor fit at the corners. I didn't complain much to the shop because I supplied the gasket and they were doing an excellent job on the accident repair - which was running up the cost way over the insurance estimate...that will be another post.
The seal was just as good as the original. no leaks at all so far. been on now for almost 2 years. The installer stated it was the best fitting rear seal for my style truck he has seen.
i gave him the link the site.
There is some room for installation error, but like all aftermarket parts fit isn’t very good. I used precision on my ventwings and fit is almost as poor as that, the wiper seals are absolute garbage. I don’t know what people are using on restorations but I don’t know how any of this could be acceptable, its not even functional.
Looks as though the slider may be slightly smaller than the original glass. Worked in automotive aftermarket shop for 15+ years and installed a lot of sliders and sometimes the fit looked like yours even with original gasket. If you believe the problem is with the gasket just pop out the slider and install new gasket on original glass and install in truck and see how it looks. It's not hard, 2 people doing it 15 minutes easy, soap and a rope couple of vinyl sticks. Lot's of videos.
I just looked at the PRP site. The description for the rear window weatherstrip without trim notch states that it will not work with original sliders. My '73 has its original slider in place (does not have trim) and the weatherstrip is in poor shape. Whose can I use to get good results? I don't want to use cheap junk unless it's all there is.
Hrm - thanks for the pics HG! Good news is that I have both the DC and PRP rear seals... so when I get around to doing mine (as it's in the shop... freakin' onion of despair), I'll try the PRP instead of the DC!
I recently went thru the same rear slider replacement search.........
Ended up with a perfect fit on an aftermarket rear slider using a Rubber the Right way" product.

Here is what I found on there site. PART #: D3TZ-1042084-A. This is for rear glass with no trim. Then, PART #: D3TZ-1042084-C, is for windows with the trim.

Interesting - wonder why I wasn't able to find it the first time... thanks though! I'll order JUST in case - will have 3 seals to try
