even more EGR crap
even more EGR crap
ok...my 96 f250 with 7.5l gas needs to pass smog...i think it might be the egr tube...im getting p0401 and the ones that say its running lean....points mostly to low air flow. a while back i replace drivers side exhaust manifold...i may have tweaked the tube then...so my question is this...and it doesnt count as my stupid question of the day( everybody gets 1 a day ) can i wrap the EGR tube with that exhaust pipe tape stuff...or that black crap and then wrap or is that just gonna mess it up more...help...i got 4 days
Did you test the DPFE sensor as I posted here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post20378756
The sensor itself could be bad. Only one way to know for sure. Could save you a LOT of extra work and sweat.

There's so much info out there I'm going crazy and don't know wat to do...I'm not great with electrical....I don't have much money at all to fix this can someone please help me and tell me wat I can do ...down to 3 days
I feel your pain man. Have you checked all your vacuum hoses, if you have a vacuum leak anywhere the EGR will not function properly and will throw that code it will also cause that lean condition or bad air-fuel mixtures in general. Check ALL the vacuum hoses.

Yes you can try wrapping the EGR tube with high temperature wrap if you think the tube or sample tubes are cracked. Did you check or replace the silicone hoses that go from the sample tubes to the DPFE sensor?
Ok...let's see...I've taken off rgr and cleaned it...ran I zip tie through the 2 smaller ones..replaced acouple things I'll send pix of...kept 1 or 2 on and switched 1 or 2 back because there was no change....it first started when I replaced exhaust manifold....when I took old one off the fitting from the tube broke off in manifold...I got that fixed but I think I might have cracked the tube some where
Ah yes that's likely. You can order a new tube for about 60 bucks and it should get to you in the next couple days or you could tape it up like you are saying but you would likely still have a leak if this is your problem...
