egr information
I'm wondering what exactly does the egr valve and tube do and location? Is the tube located on the header/manifold? I've read bits and pieces about it but never got a real understanding?

EGR stands for exhaust gas recirculation. the idea is to let dead( no oxygen) air into cylinder to lower combustion temperature so a pollutant wont be formed. Nitrogen oxides I think. But, less oxygen in cylinder makes for a smaller bang, less horsepower.NO one in racing uses egr. The tube is just the supply tube for exhaust gas.

^ No one in racing uses an egr because there are no emissions checks, and 110 leaded gas pretty much prevents any hint of detonation. Race cars also run most of the time at full throttle, when the egr on road vehicles is turned off by the computer anyway.
